Disconnect XM unit

Disconnect XM unit

Does anyone have instructions on how to access the XM unit in the trunk? I believe the unit is located on the right hand side of the trunk. I recently installed the DICE unit and trying to completely disconnect the XM radio. Thanks

It is about 4 inches square and is on the left side of the trunk.

^ Pop the plastic cover under the metal cargo tie downs on the left side. There is a screw for each one. Pull the center plastic liner, between the spare and bumper, straight up to release the 4 clips. Remove the plastic tie hook by popping out the plastic cover and pulling the hook. Now you can pull back the left trunk liner to access the XM module. You would need to remove the back piece to completely pull out the side one.

Thanks guys!

Which plug would I need to unplug in order for the XM radio not to interfere with the DICE when playing? I believe the smaller plug is the antenna?

Here is a link to the service manual. http://www.mediafire.com/?id12m1m4imv Page 17 shows the connectors. The unit has a dual function. The 3 connectors on the back that you can see in the picture above serve as the Acura Link system. The XM connectors are on the other side so you will likely have to remove the unit from its brace. There are two connectors: a small connector with a single wire that serves as the antenna signal, and another that interfaces with the head unit.

What is the point of disconnecting it? It seems like you may lose some diagnostic functions.

Right now when I play music thru the DICE unit the XM is also going on at the same time. From what I understand, I would have to disconnect the XM antenna in order for the XM music to stop.

So, yue3759, are you still around? Did you try disconnecting the XM antenna signal wire in the trunk? I have a similar issue with my GROM unit. I don't subscribe to XM. So, I don't care if I lose the functionality.

I can confirm the little black plug on the top of the XM unit is the antenna plug. I removed it and now I have no XM interference with my GROM device. However; the info display will periodically say no xm antenna. Not a big deal as the interference was much more annoying.

For reference to anyone who may search on this later:
I recently installed a GROM IPD4 in my 2007 RL w/ Nav and was hearing XM in the background when playing music from my iPhone through the GROM.
My AcuraLink unit looked just like the picture in 007spy's picture above. There are actually no connectors on the other side of the unit.
The bottom connector you see in the picture is actually two connectors. To resolve my issue, I had to disconnect the bottom section of that connector (labeled "AcuraLink Connector A" in the service manual). The service manual indicates that this connector has wires for navigation so I was worried that it would affect other functionality. However, everything tested out fine. Nav, HFL, and Voice Commands still work. And no more XM in the background.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm trying to disconnect my xm so that my grom usb works without glitches. The pics are gone in this thread making difficult for me to disconnect my xm completely. Any way pics can be uploaded?
Also, you still don't have any issues with your other functions?

Is everything still working as it should after you disconnected the bottom part of the harness to this day? I'm about to do the same thing...thanks in advance
