Inconsistent headlight

the left headlight on my 2006 RL may not come on all of the time. If I turn it back to the Auto position where it is most of the time and then turn it up to having the headlights "on" all of the time, it will then go on. If I turn the car off, both headlights go on before they turn off.
any ideas what the problem might be before I take it to my local mechanic or the dealer?

Seems like a ballast or bulb issue. I would swap the bulb over and see if the issue follows. If not, swap the ballasts and ignitors and see if the issue follows.

If you'll be swapping components over, it would probably be easier to drop the bumper imo

Incontistent headlight

It was the bulb after all. $150 to have it installed, but I always think "It could have been worse..."
Thanks for the advice.
