AUX on the cheap

Gents,

so my DVD player died some time ago, I will not bother taking it out and sending it in for repairs. As i started to listen to the radio more I noticed my radio reception is ridiculously poor. I am guessing the antenna connection ?

anyhow I need some recommendation for cheap Bluetooth and AUX options.
I am assuming I could run an AUX cable from the trunk, is there something to connect too? since im not using XM could i use its input channel?

are there any cheap Bluetooth adapters worth recommending? and by cheap I mean no where close to $100.00...

Thanks!

I've never used an FM modulator, but I chose the one with the best reviews for you. I would be interested in a minimal amount of feedback because this is a topic that is brought up on a weekly basis.

reviewing something and explaining the principal of operation are two different things... I'd rather read reviews of cars then read about how they work! :P
... and I hope it works for me too! If it doesn't then I'll be asking for more recommendations!

oo7spy I'll make a short review of it so you know if its worth recommending next time someone asks for a cheap options.

Thanks! I should have it later this week. Since my radio picks up maybe 2 stations clean in the greater Chicago metro(!) in theory it might not pick up this device either. will see though!

Depending on the MY and trim, the antenna could be placed in the rear windshield. If you have metallic tint, it can possibly cause interference. However, the FM transmitter will be in your car, so I don't know that you can infer any results compared to signals originating from outside.

So I got it earlier this week. It looks pretty solid for the price. it has a mic build in so its easy to answer the phone while having it plugged in. The only downside is that the radio is picking up a noise (hum) or rather the FM transmitter is picking it up and when blasting music very loud the quality goes down. most of the hum is from my dash cam but even with the dash cam disconnected when the phone has nothing playing and I crank the car radio to 40 there is some noise coming through. However just for normal commute listening it works adequately.

Thank you all for your $.05!

I just bought this, I originally bought one on monday from best buy a Griffin for 60 bucks and I saw in the parking lot set it up and it sucked ( i knew it would but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt) and i returned it so i need a alternative and I don't feel like spending 200 dollars on a USA or Grom.. not because I'm cheap but because I just wanna get the job done and i can tuck it inside the center console

So well see how this goes

This audio situation has me wanting to trade this car in.... there has to be a way bypass that stock nav screen with a new one.... they def didnt design this thing for longevity if this is the case... i really dont wanna pay someone to hack up my console over an aux port.

As every one is recommending the USA SPEC is good way to go after reading the forum for weeks - I just added this to our 2005 RL - so its the way to go ...it seems like the supply of these is diminishing... IPOD & Aux Input Works as advertised.

What exactly does this enable one to do in terms of audio? "Ipod" im guessing this is apple related. I use android and my phone for music purposes, so i guess id be in for the aux port. Is there any bluetooth audio support?
Does anyone know what RL to buy the "clean setup" part from? Is it the kb1 or kb2? Part number?

Can anyone link me to a DIY on this?

I've got Iphone 6 and my better half has an Iphone 5 and it works just fine( you just need the older Iphone/IPOD -> lightning adapter (cheap) to adapt the connector to the newer Iphones. Everything works - Text display on the XM nav screen / big screen in audio mode / steering wheel controls - direct control from the phone if you want - everything works at least for us....

No A2DP Bluetooth...but not what I wanted anyway so I didn't care about that...Aux port was 2nd priority... and it has this - so we're golden for what we wanted....hardest part of the install was running the damn connector cables into the armrest console...but that's been bitched about before...so there you go.

My comment about no blue tooth was for the old version..The new version doesn't have the ipod cable interface - thats why I went with the older version because thats what we needed

My comment wasn't really geared toward your advice which was spot on. Reading the Crutchfield description of this product does indeed show that the USB is for charging only. USASpec claims it will integrate everything over Bluetooth though and the AUX port is available for any other devices.

Also, searching "pa15-acuxl" in Google and choosing "shopping" offers multiple options, all of which are under $150.

I tried out the Jet Tech one today and I only used it for a couple minutes and I'm very happy how it turned out the quality sounds very good the static is very minimal and barely interferes with the song unless your really bumping the stereo in which u hear it a little but barely noticeable you have to purposely be looking out for it
