Where are the incentives?
I know Acura only moves about 200 RLs on a good month but what shocks me is that they are not offering incentives on them at all right now. An aggressive lease or marketing support would help sales imo. Even on leftover '11s there isn't anything. I'm puzzled. I for one would really consider a lease on one. Any sales people out there with answers?
Acura is not marketing the RL and doesn't care about it because it is effectively end of life. Thus, no incentives. On top of that, good luck finding an RL as many dealers don't want to be saddled with a slow seller. You have to really want an RL to find a new one IMHO.
Acura prob does not make that much money off the Acura RL. but they need a flagship car thats highend. if they got rid of the RL. it would be the TL or ZDX as the flagship (idk about suv being flagship car) in turn would make Acura not look as great. just my thoughts
There was $4000 in incentives back at the end of the 2005 year end cycle when I got mine. But they also had way too much inventory at the time, 8-9 RL on the lot right before the 2006 were to arrive. If they keep their inventory in check, which is low all the time now, pretty much everywhere, there isn't a need for the incentives. There is a $3000 incentive on the ZDX though, the RL SUV.
Because of the TL's big "beak", I had my eye on the RL's as well. I agree, it seems like Acura isn't making much of an effort to move these things off their lots all the while they're getting crappy sales figures. Acura is shooting itself in the foot.

Acura has to maintain some kind of flagship car in their stable.... if they want to be viewed as a premium luxury brand... they need something like that.
Lexus has the LS line
Infiniti has the M-class
hell, even Hyundai has the Genesis and now the Equus!
Acura is getting passed up by everyone else... if they want to play in this game, they need to do something.
this is what Acura needs:
Redo the RL, but increase it's size to make it LS / 7 series size. a turbo V6 to give it big power but reasonable gas mileage... why not incorporate the cylinder deactivation technology they have on the Accord into this thing so on freeway trips it would get great gas mileage....
a new flagship RL would put Acura back on the map.
while they are at it, they should add a sportier version of the TSX and TL. a TSX-S with bigger wheels, SH-AWD, and more power... like 350... maybe turbo charge the 3.5L? although to add all that stuff may push the price to a point where it won't compete and couldn't sell....
what abou ta dedicated sports car? a halo car like the NSX would be awesome..although i don't know if that market is there or not... they won't make it if it's just goin to cause them to lose money....
it seems like Acura is just going for the bread and butter sales... TSX, TL, MDX.... push all that stuff and forget the high end stuff and sporty stuff..becaues those markets have shrunk.... it's too bad.

The Infinity M will compete with the RL and Genesis.
The Lexus LS competes with the Equus.
My personal opinion of the 2012 RL is that it is a great car that has all the features that I want except: change the beak, and install the ELS audio system from the MMC MDX.
The OP was asking re: incentives - my local dealer will make a hell of a deal on an RL just to get rid of it. The last of a model is bullet proof - I do not know anyone who dislikes their 2004 RL, yes it looked old and under-powered compared to the 05 but that will probably be the case when you compare the 2013 to the 2012.

I was surprised Acura of Manhattan didn't stock one either. I asked the salesman and he said they are lucky if they sell one a year and he also mentioned that the ZDX is not doing well which is a shame because it's a beautiful SUV.
