The RL search continues...

I don't want to start another thread about my horrible experience, so if you want to read about it... go here:

Now for the good news, I am going to get an '06 RL. The problem is, they are virtually impossible to find at my local dealerships. From what a salesman told me today, looks like Acura is taking them back and selling at auction to make room for the '07's.... Perhaps this is true at dealerships that have been sitting on some '06's for awhile..... who knows..... Anyways, this actually may turn out to be a good thing. I have a guy I know that has a dealer's license and buys cars at auction. He charges a small fee, but it's definitely worth it. He suggested I go for an '06, but expect the best bargins in December. In a way, I'm glad the '05 didn't work out, because now I'm going to focus on finding an 06 RL. I just have to be patient.

What makes you think Acura is buying them back from their dealers? It could be that the allotment of '06 RLs are thin. Here in L.A. there may be one or two left on various lots (slim pickings compared to the previous month). Cerritos Acura has two RLs left (white and lakeshore) and I believe they are the largest volume dealer on the west coast

I talked to one acura salesman today. They had returned some of their '06 models back to acura. Most likely, these are then sold @ auction (according to the salesman I spoke to today). A honda dealer that also buys RL's at auction confirmed this as he bought two RL in the last few weeks (which both sold). One had 100 miles, the other (a demo) with 6k miles.

I just checked my local dealer's inventory online. They still have eight 2006 RLs in stock. They are also a high-volume dealer. Maybe just the Chicago dealers are slim on stock?

Synth19 - since you got fully reimbursed by the Lexus dealer and it seems like you are willing to "travel" to get a RL, you should consider getting a 06 now while they last. I drove by my dealer yesterday and saw 2 RLs sitting on their lot. I'm not so sure about these new cars going to auction because I know for a fact the dealers can sell them if they really want to. You know...lower the price even more. I think what you will find at auction are the demo ones. The ones with miles on them. The ones people test drove and who knows what condition they are in. So if your budget is now up to around $40K, then I would get a brand new one at one of the dealers in the country.

Good luck!

You might have to travel a bit farther, but you can definitely still get a 06

Your salesmen is mis-informed. They will sell the RL's on the lots. No reason to auction cars that still can make money. My dealer has TWO left. A black and a Grey one. Down here in San Antonio, TX.

I know one dealer as of a week ago that had 4 06 RLs and another dealer in Michgan with a black/ebony. If you want to know the dealers, PM me. Good luck on your search. BTW, these were all non Tech versions.
