Need a price check on a 2008 RL with tech

Hello gents.

Brother is looking for an CPO 08 RL with tech. He found one with 12k miles and Acura dealer is asking $32k.

Sounds pricey no? Whats a realistic number to offer to make this a fair deal..

Sounds a little high. Prices are going to vary on 08 CPO Tech based on mileage, condition, # of owners, in service date, color and location. I searched quite a while before finding a silver CPO tech with 16K miles. It was a one owner with an August 07 in service date and in emaculate condition. It was in south FL. Paid 27,650. for it. Hope this helps.

Location has a LOT to do with it. Just because you paid 27,650 in FL doesn't mean for this guy to find the same thing in Chicago for the same price. For one cars with AWD carry a higher value in IL where they see a lot of snow/ice during winter months vs. just rain in Florida which rwd/fwd can drive through with nearly as much ease as awd. This is a different case with wintry weather. My opinion is a car thats $50k brand new thats $30k with only 16K miles is a good deal. You can try and offer $29k and see what you get. Is the car at Acura or a used car lot? If its at Acura then it's def CPO (certified preowned) which is a big plus and carries more on the value than a mom & pop dealer. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask us bro. Can you post a link of the car please?

Crazy A, that's a little high. I'd aim for $29-30k IMHO. Because it's CPO, $30k is probably reasonable just to get the CPO warranty that comes with the car.

On a similar note, high-miles (>50k, higher than what you're looking at) 2008 RLs are what are available in my area, and they are going for low 20's.

Yes, its at an Acura dealer and is CPO. Carfax does mention that it was in a rear end accident. Dealer says it was just the bumper and trunk that was replaced and they have the receipts to show it.

Told my brother to shoot for 29,500 because of that.

Yes, location has a lot to do with it. But so do all of the other factors. I wouldn't make an offer based on location only. After all, you can buy a car anywhere, not just Chicago. I never suggested he offer what I paid.

I paid $26k for a 27k mi '07 CPO tech with one owner and no accidents. It started at like $31k and eventually came down. Not sure if it being in AL had anything to do with that or not, but it is a price point for you. IMHO, ANY kind of accident would result in at least $3k lower value than the same car in perfect condition. I think $32k is a little high for this car. $29k sounds reasonable. I've heard if you wait till the end of the month, or after they have had the car for 30 days, you can get better deals on used cars. They don't like to keep used cars in their inventory.

well i personally think its pricey just like everyone here is stating... i think more 27.5k to 29.5 depending on mileages...

I paid way less than that 2yrs ago. I went to Muller Acura... So tell your bro to check Muller Acura if he wants too...

I just bought a non-tech 2008 certified RL here in New Jersey. Car is in great condition and had 17K miles. Pd. 28,500 OTD. Also was able to get 2.9% financing. IMO financing rate can always effect the total nut and is sometimes overlooked. Also depending on the original sell date you may only have less than a year on the full warranty. Certified only covers drive train and motor. Good Luck

not sure what the hassle on the warranty is as you can get Acura Care as long as car is under 50k and extend up to 4 years and 120k for less than 2 grand.

He bought a silver/ebony 2008 RL with tech, has 32k miles on it for $29k.

BUT they tweaked the numbers on his trade in. He got $7k for his trade in where carmax was only offering $4k. So im sure they really just adjusted the price of the RL but made it look like they giving him more on trade. Which is fine since its better for the tax savings.

Hes happy.

I know you'll be having him join this great site so he can chat with us mostly great owners. Tell him not to even look at this site if he doesn't want to mod at all because he will want too after he see's the clean nicely done RL's on the board.

look into Acura Care before he hits 50k, the car is reliable but one or two issues will cost an arm and a leg. Plus the peace of mind is um...useful if not priceless.

Was it CPO? or non-acura dealer?
I'm also in the market for another RL for my mother-in-law. Looking to keep it at $25k. Hoping to score some 07's with low mileage and throw another $2k for extended warranty (non-acura care). Was yours $29k OTD? If so, sounds like he did pretty well. If it's CPO, that's even a plus.

That's what i did. Paid close to $1800 for 5 years/75k miles on my 06. Had absolutely nothing wrong with it but having that piece of mind was priceless. Plus if you break it down... it comes out to be $30 per month which gets easier to justify. This way, I don't have to worry about almost anything...

Ah yes forgot to mention, it was a CPO from the Acura dealer. So it has the extended warranty.

He doesnt mod or go on forums much, thats why i was posting for him.

Im sure we will use the site for reference if he has any questions. Its great place to go to when needing info as most of you know.

It doesn't matter what the selling price or the trade amount is; you're paying tax on the difference.
