G-027: Visor Vanity bulbs

I tried http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...placementGuide, however am unable to identify what type of bulbs are present in the vanity mirrors (they look like a thin elongated cylindrical tube). Any ideas?

OK. I'm with ya now.

I was going to agree with LL that you were going a little screwy with the blue light thing.

Calvin_Hobbes, did you ever find an LED replacement for your vanity? Last night I just realized that I have a burnt bulb in the back. Sounds like a good time to replace all the bulbs with LED's!

Henry, i am very sorry to say that the idea of replacing vanity bulbs with LEDs took a back seat amongst a list of other priorities. Its good that you reminded me. I will try to pop out the vanity casing and see if i can tell you the bulb type. Perhaps, someone else has already done this?

Don't go to any bother. I'm going to order two "Festoon" type LEDs for the back and standard wedge LEDs for the front. I'm going to go with red for the doors...I'm thinking it might be a little safer opening the doors with RED LED's on the doors as opposed to white bulbs.

I have not researched the size yet, but one thing to remember is that LEDs can have a lower color rendering index than incandescents, and if you have any women that will be using the visor at night, something to be aware of. Kind of like using certain types of fluorescent tubes as a lighting source to put make up on.

Do let us know what size bulb and how you like the color rendering when you do this.

I thought i posted a link to ebay link for the vanity LED lights?

The options are pretty limited on the vanity lights, these where only ones i could find. Plus with the frosted lens cover, the color output will be very min at best.

I toyed around with a couple LED markers, but truthfully unless the bulb contains more LED, the output of the pricy LED brand vs. Ebay type is pretty much the same.

Please post picture when you get done changing out the interior lighting so we can compare.

OK, thanks for the advice. I bought all the other bulbs from SuperBrightLEDs.com and got the vanity bulbs from eBay.

Can anyone tell me the bulb-type for the visor (05 RL)? I'd like to replace them with white LED units.

The think elogated tubes bulb description sounds like a festoon bulb. I am NOT saying it is this particular piece, but it would look like this. Keep the color temp in warm white area and get the most lumens you can in the particular package which is based on length

http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED/D...-p6754412.html

or something like this

Thanks for the info Chas2. Yeah, the bulb you listed fits the rear dome light, but is too big in diameter to fit the visor. I just found the correct bulb (I hope) and ordered it.

http://store.ijdmtoy.com/JDM-D29mm-L..._d29_sku20.htm

Its specifications match the old bulb I pulled out of the visor (6mm diameter and 29mm long). I figured I'd risk $10 to try them.

It certainly looks good, unusual slim profile. Let us know how it works.

The picture doesn't really do them justice, but I think they look really cool. For $10 it's definitely worth it!

I should have mentioned, this is comparing the original (driver's side) to the new LED visor bulb (passenger's side).

Reviving an old thread instead of starting a new one...

I know some people here have changed their vanity bulbs to leds. What is the bulb size to look for? 29 mm length, 6 mm diameter festoon? No one ever seemed to come out with a true part number, and all of the links here are dead. Can someone point me to a good link if they don't have a part number?

$11.57 w/ shipping. I wonder why 29 x 6 mm lights are so hard to come by.
