Interest in RL specific intake with Velocity stack?

Alright guys. I've been talking with a fabricator local to me about making an intake specifically for my 07 RL. I already know guys are out there using TL intakes, but i wanted something made to my liking w/ a 3" velocity stack. If you dont know what a velocity stack is, look it up. Most tend to think it will only help on carburated cars, but significant gains have been made using velocity stacks vs. regular filters. While im at it. Is there anyone else out there interested?

I'll keep you guys updated. I'm trying to keep price close to what's already out there. It would be impossible to make it cheaper than what's already out there since these are 1 off hand made intakes

all it is, is a $5 piece of pipe with a MAF fitting welded on and a $20 filter. I can't believe someone else hasn't made one of these yet for us. crazy.

maf adapter needs to be machined. Piping/brackets will be TIG welded. Not exactly a 5 min job.

And for it to be sold in CA it has to go through the CARB certification.

Obtaining carb certification isnt exactly cheap. Hence the reason why only big name companies pay for it. Also all the RL guys running TL intakes arent covered by the carb sticker, so it wouldnt really matter for us RL guys.

It matters to me. Plus I was explaining to Jacob why they are expensive. CA may be a pain but for many platforms (probably not the RL) it's worth the investment considering our population.

I understand where you are coming from. But I am an individual not a company. Im trying to help the RL community with something specific for our car.

actually, once the MAF adapters have been made, welding them and bending the pipe is probably doable in less than 5 minutes.

I'm going for a quality looking piece here. Not something hacked up in a few minutes. If it only took 5 minutes.dont you think somebody would have made one a long time ago

quality has nothing to do with it. how long do you really think it takes K&N to attach the MAF bung to the pipe on their kits, and run the pipe through a mandrel bender.

Ok again like I said before. k&n is a big company. This discussion is done. I came on here to see who else wanted an intake. Not sure if i'll be going with a short ram our child air yet. Maybe both could be made depending on your preference So lets get a list going

1. HKSmr2rbo
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Please only add your name if you are seriously interested. Deposit may be required for materials to get started. I will have to talk to the fabricator first.

NO ONE is going to make a CARB legal intake for an RL... there simply isnt' enough of a market for that part to justify the $... if there was a way to make it profitbale, the big companies would have done it already.

there are not that many RLs out there to start with. Then figure maybe 1 in 100 if even that mod their RL...

It will have a similar velocity stack from circuit hero. The air box is not part of the intake I will be making. Those usually run a couple hundred itself. But it has the advantages of both short ram and cold air

Can we get a price estimate? I think your list will sit pretty empty without an idea of what we are signing up for. If you have no idea, estimate high and people will feel better when it comes out lower.

What is the difference between what you are aiming for and the AEM CAI or the Takeda short ram? If there is no performance difference, and it is the same price, I don't think too many people will go for an experimental design.

OK guys. HKS, you must get permission from the admins as it looks like this is turning into a group buy. You must be a paying vendor to continue. Locking thread temporarily.
