How much should i pay for 2006 RL Non Tech
Hell to all, I am in the market for a 2006 RL, (White or Black) and wanted to know how much I should be paying for this car. Also is it better to buy it Certified from the dealer or buy it and then have it certified?
I also wanted to know is there a better state to buy cars in? I currently live in Connecticut and rarely see Rl's for sale at the dealers and even so they seem high Schaller Acura in Manchester has a 2005 with 45,000 miles Certified going for $ 21,995 I think that's very high for a 2005 based on what i have seen people buying for.
Any help in this matter would be gladly appreciated. I should also ask if it's better for me to buy a 07 further down in summer of this year once my 99 Tl with 278,000 will keep going. Thanks for the help.

Impressive mileage for an early 2G TL.
As far as the 2006 RL, depends on mileage. Typically you're looking at low (mostly)-mid (for really low-mileage samples) $20's. Someone just posted about getting a 2006 for a bit over $20k.
CPO is better IMHO, but if you find a non-CPO RL with mileage that puts it still in the factory warranty, you can always buy Acuracare for cheap online.

I just recently traded in my 99 TL with 212,000 miles for an 05 RL with 60,000. It was still going strong with some minor issues.
I also live in CT, I purchased mine from Antonino Acura in Groton, CT because that is where I bought my last 2 Acura's (91 Legend and 99 TL)
I know I ended up paying too much for mine, 19,500, but I have a loyalty to this dealer and they NEVER give me any problems when it comes time for service so I was willing to pay a little extra. Although I live 10 minutes down the road from Schaller I still drove all the way down to Groton.
As of now they have a few more RL's some certified and some not but they are all priced high in my opinion.

I have just bought an 06 with 38K miles for $20,500. I have been looking at RL prices for about 3 months, and a rather strange thing happened as 2009 rolled-in. The prices went up! I am not sure what would cause a car’s price to spike, but the overall market price increased by about 2K.
The average price for an 06 with about 30K in good condition is in the mid twenties. A certified vehicle will be more. However, dealers are usually willing to negotiate, I got a car listed for $27,900 to be brought down to $22,500. The best deal I saw was from a private seller, the gentleman sold his immaculate 06 with 19K for $22,000.
Good luck, and remember dealers are very flexible because of the market conditions. Negotiate… negotiate…negotiate!

.. I was hoping the 05-08 RL would become a modern day '67 Mustang!! Now, I'm gonna sit back and watch the prices jump higher and higher as people will realize the Acura RL is...(in the guys voice from Acura commercials) THEE ACURA ARR-L.

The luxury car segment usually suffers terrible depreciation. Acura’s value retention is only second to Lexus. So we can be proud of that to an extent. Regardless, a $50K car loosing $30K of its value in the first three years is mind-boggling.
My original observation that the prices went up was based solely on my market research, and not some concrete statistics. Mainly prices on cars.com, autotrader, eBay, Craigslist. My guess would be that people cannot justify plunking $50K on a new car in this economy, so they are looking to used vehicles or postponing a purchase all together.
Also, the RL has always been a very “smart” purchase, which will appeal to a lot of people when monetary issues overshadow impulse purchases. Hence the value retention.

45k miles is a little high for me.....but in reality, that's barely broken in for any Honda product.
Further, even a 2005 with that mileage is still under factory warranty, so you can opt for Acuracare.
The other remark is that in 06, there were two models, standard and tech package. Nomenclature and content was changed for 07 and 08, so it looks like this
2006 standard = 2007-08 tech package
2006 tech package = 2007-08 tech package + CMBS/ACC/PAX
So all I was saying, badly, is that a 2006 non tech = a 2007-08 tech, in the lower 48 states configuration. I could not exactly speak for content in the HI or AK models...
Take your time and shop around and you will find the car you want but don't limit yourself to just CT. Realize you're going to spent several thousand more buying from a dealership Vs. private sale and there are pros and cons of each. Best of luck...
