Unhappy Hit a deer...try and guess where at

Over the weekend i hit a deer on the interstate of all places. Its the last thing i expected to hop across 8 lanes Lol. But going 70+mph the car didnt even flinch. Thats one good thing about a 2ton+ car. Anyways Just thought I'd vent and share Some pics. Anyone else have pics of your beautiful car smashed into random things?

cost of repair: $9800 and counting...

First, glad you're okay. Like BDogg said, it could have been fatal regardless of which car you are in.

But $9000+? Is the frame bent? I have had my front quarter panel/hood and quarter panel/door smashed my two different deer, and the total never came out to above $3.5k. If your insurance is going to give you $10k, take that check and get it fixed on your own. That is withstanding a bent frame.

Sad to see an RL like that though.

EDIT: I was going to guess the Walmart parking lot.

OP, glad you are OK. I would think that damage is easily corrected and your RL will be again road ready.

When I went to write that, I questioned if I should assume more class on the part of the OP and put Target, but Walmart is really what I guessed when I opened the thread. I knew he would tell us, so I made sure to make a guess before entering.

To the OP, I have seen a deer carcass a good 1/2 mile to a mile into a raised part of the interstate that had construction barriers within a foot of the outsides of two lanes. I can only imagine how she got up there and the confusion people saw before hitting her. Luckily I was in te other lane.

Nothing wrong with Walmart but of course i wouldnt know ive never been Lol. Yeah geico is paying for it. The problem is its and 05 and its an RL So there are no aftermarket or refurb parts available. The headlight alone was 1100. I almost wished they would Total it but its been a real good car to me with inly 70k miles So shes still got Some growing up to do. Ill post the final repair bill when shes out next week. Ohhhh and ive got cracked motor mounts (whether the deer caused that or not Idk but acura are replacing them at geico's cost)

Well, that price of $1100 is retail. However, the entire assembly can be had for a discounted $780. http://www.oemacuraparts.com/find-pa...IGHT%20%281%29

Do I think you can find $9k worth of parts to replace at retail prices. Sure. Do I think you could repair all of the damage to the exact same quality as above for less than $5k. Yes. Do I think you should pursue for the prior and act on the former.

That's all.

wow from the pics it looks like you'll only need fender, hood, and headlight plus even if they're replacing the bumper no way the bill is $9800+

That's already a little more than what I paid for my RL

That sucks. The car did its job though and you are safe. Coincidentally, I have a headlight if you need one.

The damage is actually not too bad. One of my friends hit a deer in his E38 earlier this summer at freeway speeds as well. It demolished his front end and totalled the car.

This seems fitting to the discussion.

Oncoming car clipped a deer and sent it straight up into the air.
The deer came down head-first into C.'s brand new truck on M-76. The deer's head went thru the front windshield, cutting the head (plus some) off, and landed in J.'s lap. The body of the deer flipped up, smashed in the top of the truck, and landed in the bed. C. couldn't see J. from his side, because the top of the truck was smashed in so horribly.
He got out of the truck, went around, and opened the door on her side...only to start flipping out, because she was literally drenched in blood. However, neither one of them was hurt. Her parents were following in a separate vehicle and didn't see it happen..but drove up on it right afterward. I can't imagine what they were thinking!

That's virtually the same damage I had with a deer hit when I had my sister's RL - except it was on the passenger side. Right down to the crinkle on the hood.

I needed a new fender, fender liner, hood, radiator support, headlight and bumper. The bill was just shy of $10k.

Good luck with the repairs.

The damage to the GMC in the other post will buff right out.

Doe a deer, a female deer....
Yuck! The de-cap-i-tated one!
Eww! A name, I call myself...
Blood! It’s all over every-one!
So! In my lap lies it’s head...
Lob! Overhead goes half a doe!
Gee! That half landed in the bed!
Which brings us back to doe...uh oh, uh oh.

Where is Bob? It's pretty obvious your prescription needs refilling.

LOL! I just got back from Disney World. In 2k + miles of driving, no deer. That's one of my worst road trip fears, to smack a deer.

Sorry to read of a mauled RL. .

GOOD GOD at the GMC!! I think i would need therapy if that happened lol. Well i'm supposed to get her back tomorrow...and I can't wait 2weeks in a crappy rental is depressing. wife and friends are going to hilton head this weekend and would be nice to have the rl to cruise in.

Off note...anyone get the new accord? just bought my wife the 12' ex-l and its soooo plain. maybe i'm over exaggerating bc of my rl but it doesn't even have a garage door opener. 29k and no garage door opener?? what is this world coming to lol
