How Dangerous Hitting a Deer Can Be... (WARNING: DEER GORE)

This did not happen to me, but someone in Sterling, MI. I have hit my fair share, but nothing that caused this type of damage. I hope no

; I received this in an email. The names have been initialed for privacy.

Oncoming car clipped a deer and sent it straight up into the air.
The deer came down head-first into C.'s brand new truck on M-76. The deer's head went thru the front windshield, cutting the head (plus some) off, and landed in J.'s lap. The body of the deer flipped up, smashed in the top of the truck, and landed in the bed. C. couldn't see J. from his side, because the top of the truck was smashed in so horribly.
He got out of the truck, went around, and opened the door on her side...only to start flipping out, because she was literally drenched in blood. However, neither one of them was hurt. Her parents were following in a separate vehicle and didn't see it happen..but drove up on it right afterward. I can't imagine what they were thinking!

*Note*: I do not know these people.

Looks like the deer won the battle. Just look at that damage to the truck. And I thought GMC trucks were tough? I hope that deer is alrite! I just love deer sausage!

Wow. I'm really surprised at the roof damage...glad the occupants were ok. And as if the damage wasn't enough, I see the deer left a more personal "fuck you" to the truck...funny and disgusting at the same time.

Short Story...

There is a road connecting DFW to Austin that runs parallel to the major interstate that will save you roughly 30m to 1h in traffic alone. I always try and take it, pretty drive...after then sun goes down it turns into drive 10mph or get hit by a deer. 3hrs of high-beams in hundreds of deer on boths sides of the road. Last time I went down a deer jumped in front of the car in front of my MX5 and the deer/car exploded. I surely would have been killed or seriously interested.

Hate seeing stuff like this. Disgusting photos.

I never drive with high beams on in the hill country. I don't like to blind them, but I have had too many debates on how effective this is.

Actually no. I rarely go north. I live in Buda and grew up in Wimberley. Wimberley is essentially along the north/south entrance to the hill country. I hit 4 deer in Legend #1 and pass them all too frequently. Too many to slow down. I just go 60 with the low beams and hope for the best.
