I was looking for my RL just out of morbid curiosity and found her...surprised not to find her on eBay. Seller doesn't extoll all her virtues...the clear bra...the A-Spec suspension and wheels....and damn someone will get a good deal on her.

My precious--click and Click

I hope someone gives Sleeping Beauty a good home, she took good care of me. *snif*

LOL, I can't!

I miss my RL....waaaaaaaaah! ....or at least the gas mileage. I'm averaging 14.5 mpg in the V when I was getting 17-18 in the RL on the winter gas formulation, and I'm having to fill up about every 200 miles as opposed to 300-325 in the RL. The V has an 18 gallon tank to the RL's 19. An extra gallon sure makes a huge difference.

But I knew what I was getting into....

Those are some terrible photos of a darn nice car! The best photo is of those A-Spec wheels -- nice! I wonder if they factor those into the price - they don't even mention them, and they're a significant upgrade with the suspension. Did A-Spec help with trade-in?

I know how hard it is to let go...... But I'm a little lucky:

I sold my G2 Legend to a friend who now works in my office, so every now and then I get to see it. It's immediately recognizable - a 1995 sedan in deep red pearl paint. I've only seen 2 others like it. I've even been a passenger on a lunch outing. I'm going to try to get him to let me drive it one of these days.....just to compare against its RepLacement.

I sold my '92 Miata to someone in Alabama, and a year later he sent me some photos of it zipping around a track. Its replacement was a, um, er, minivan....

Don't worry about the mileage- I am sure President Obama will instate open-ended warranties for GM vehicles now that they are part of the stimulus package.

P.S. Beautiful RL- That salesman should be smacked with his camera.

Nah, not worried about GM warranties at all because of government backing, that was a factor in my pulling the trigger.

I'm half tempted to send my old pix to that dealer, but that would only cause him to jack up the price. $23k for my RL is a fracking steal and illustrates that mods don't add significantly to a car's value.

Congrats to whoever bought my RL, you gotta delurk in the forum. She's a good car. Someone got a steal of a deal....hopefully she went to a good home....makes me think I should have sold her myself....

OK....back to work....

Believe it or not, my 98 CL was on the Acura dealers lot (and on cars.com) two days after I bought my RL.

I also looked up my CLs carfax and it didnt reflect the transmission I had replaced, or the power windows (x2) that were replaced by an Acura dealer. Little weird. Hope the carfax that I got for my RL is more accurate.

So the GM dealer sold @ auction and was bought by other dealer? Was listed price much above trade-in value?

The Caddy dealer called their auctioner directly from the sales floor, it was on this lot within a few days. The price offered at that dealer was (not surprisingly) significantly above the trade value. The trade value I got was dead on what auctioners are paying for 2006 RLs with my mileage, according to pre-purchase research I did on Galves. Galves is generally dead on what the dealers are giving in trade in my prior experience....Edmunds and KBB are totally useless other than for entertainment in trade-in value. TMV my a$$!

So much for my road trip to OH.

I know how hard it is to let go. I cried when the buyer came to pick up my old car from college (which was actually my parents' car). The dude felt bad for taking my car. I get quite attached.

I almost, ALMOST wish my deal for the V had gone bad. I only traded because I got an awesome deal for what became my "dream car", not because I didn't like my RL. I truly wish I'd been able to keep both cars. Maybe when 2005s come down to $10k (another few months the way things are going), I'll pay cash for one and use it as my winter car.

kssod-- https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/neuronbobs-official-cts-v-appreciation-thread-6mt-v-wagon-10-yrs-old-pg-46-a-716744/

Man, I am having a tough time letting go of this car! Luckily, the V is so fun to drive I don't regret my decision.

Ahh, very clean example. Should have removed the steering wheel and made a few bucks, trade in value difference would have been zero for that. Pics sucks though for such a nice example. They even fixed that mishap for you.

Are you going to modded your V? I was in China and saw the tail lamp and the housing is clear but the panel is black. When you signal, it is yellow but when you brake it is red. Have you seen any of them here in the US? If not, I'm planning to import them here.

$27k. Click the first link in the first post. It originally went to a different dealer offering $23k.

Bob, I called on Friday trying to buy YOUR car!! i was sick of trying to find a mercedes coupe moderately priced, so I gave up. When i called the First guys, it seems they had gotten it from the Cadillac dealer when you traded it in. When i called in that morning, i offered to pay them $21,000 cash for it, and id come down today to pick it up. Guy then tells me, there ENTIRE lot was sent off to auctions, and that id have to wait till tomorrow(today) to see if tis still available.

Well they never called back....and after seeing ur post, looks like the Acura Dealer realized what a steal it was, bought it at the auction...and now have it for almost $28k. Ill call the Acura dealer on monday, see if they'll be reasonable, but being you got 19.5 for it, im thinking they wont go below 24 for it. I was also wondering bob, i thought u had an extended warranty on it, if I were to buy it?...would it be able to transferred to me?

COOL! I am hoping someone from the forum gets my car. I did have an extended warranty (7/100) but I'm in the process of cashing it in already since I didn't use it. Paperwork's already been sent off to Honda.

Yeah right, 1000th of 1% of owners even end up a make specific forum, and the RL sells like a Pinto at a Concourse event. You will never see her again. Enjoy your new car and forget the past. Though I would love to buy my 86 944 if I ever came across her. At least the RL is faster than that car.

Too true. However, the RL is the only car I've actually missed when I traded or sold it. That's not because my V is not a great car (oh believe me...it is... ), it's a statement on how good an all-around car the RL is.

Gotta agree with Mr. 470hpGS400!

You got a better chance of finding the H.S sweetheart that you porked then the beloved RL your traded in.

Andy Rooney had a skit on 60 minutes on finding his prior RX300 which he did track down. He really did like that SUV. All one needs is a VIN.

@ this thread.

This is how I felt when I sold my first car, a 95 Integra which by all means was a POS. Mechanically it ran great and never left me stranded. Even took a few long road trips in it. It looked like hell though. After I sold it, I saw the car on craigslist (I memorized the VIN... I was THAT paranoid about thieves) and it was freshly repainted and it looked great. A part of me died inside. Ah, what could have been....

If it weren't for thieves I might be in an Integra sedan as a daily right now. Nowhere near the car the RL is but I went through so much with the car that I felt a degree of attachment to it.

I'm at my thread, too. (Yes, moderators occasionally laugh at themselves. ) I can't believe I miss the car as much as I do. Not that I dislike my V--trust me, Sport Mode on the V's automatic tranny makes the engine scream in all its low-tech V8 glory--but damn, the RL snuck up on me as a car I really liked. That's why I continue to mod here.

I guess I'm a KB1 fan for life!

acuraRL07, I had 36k and change miles when I traded.

A Lexus RX330-driving moron using a cell phone rear-ended my V at low speed on 8/1. The bumper was torn and one of the rear tail lights was broken--all cosmetic damage. The guy nearly crapped his pants when he found out what he hit. I've had the car back since Thursday and all is well.

We all can breathe a sigh of relief! CTS-V is back in its rightful place. Hopefully this lil blemish will be the last it will ever see! Congrats Bob, that you got your baby back with no major repairs.

All is well again; there can be peace and harmony in the world!
