Brake replacement

Anyone ever done one on their RL? How many miles did you get out of the car? Did you just replace the fronts or both?

Front brakes will almost always require servicing before the rear as the brake bias favors the front end including the RL.
Pretty simple to do on the RL. I just replaced both front and rear as I prefer to keep the friction material similar and I wanted to put on new rotors. I'm finicky that way.

What brake pads and rotors did you use?

How is the stopping performance?

Are they noisy? I tried Hawk HPS in another car and they squeaked like crazy with new rotors.

Thanks in advance!

Happy Holidays!

I wish the Hawks were available for the RL but they are not. They have been fantastic with zero noise in all of my other vehicles. Options for the RL are limited. The top end would be Endless pads which are pricey. I went with Carbon Metallic pads. They are ok, certainly not HPS pads, slightly better than stock while pushing the car, they do fade with extreme use, longer cold break in, an ok pad. Not noisy at all.
Rotors are the generic drilled rotors you see on Ebay. They have been good to me over the years.

FN P90 replaced his brake pads. His RL now has over 222k miles. Search for his threads on brake pads.

Edit: Here they are

Based on his experience, I'm sticking with the stock pads when the time comes.

Kept stock pads, the fronts had to be replaced at 49K. We didn't turn the rotors.

I have Rotora rotors with Akebono pads for 10K miles now and I am very happy with them. No brake dust and very quiet. P.S. when You gonna replace brake rotors or pads get SS brake lines ( I have them to ).
