Average speed- RL 2005
I was tempted to say "drive faster"
The average speed should be reset when you reset the trip calculator. As you drive more and more miles without resetting, it will look like it has locked to a single value since it takes some radical driving differences to change the average calculated over a lot of miles.
Look the the mileage associated with trip A, if it is really large, then you can manually reset the trip (I have forgotten how, but I think it's in the manual). If you haven't set your trip to be rest with a gas fill, I would recommend it...this is under the personal options in the multi-function display.

Auto reset merely resets the clock back to zero and resets the trip mileage counter to zero. In order to change the average fuel consumption and the average speed, you must manually reset that using the controls on the steering wheel. The average speed it is associated with trip A.

Now I gotta go and re-check what I thought was happening...I have to fill it with gas anyway...I'll post what I find.

Average MPG is automatic, Average MPH is manual.

However, if you reset the average MPH, it will also reset the trip A counter and average MPG. So, if you want those to represent a full tank of gas, reset the average MPH right after a fill-up.
How to reset Average Speed

The trip computer on my 06 RL seems to be a step backwards from my 01 MDX. On the MDX, if you have it "reset with fuel", it clears time, miles and miles per gallon. However, it has a history button which shows these items along with their dates for 5 previous trips. I keep a log book with fuel expenditures, mileage, etc. and it is nice to be able to write this stuff down after refueling. In the RL, the information is partly gone after it auto resets. With all the greater computing power of the RL, I would expect much more capability with this feature.
