Acura RL named Best of the Best "Used" Luxury Cars

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...rst-used-cars/

Luxury Cars - 2005 Acura RL
While the RL isn't the sportiest car, it has had excellent reliability wrapped in a comfortable and refined package. The 2005 redesign brought standard all-wheel drive but complicated controls. The Infiniti M35 is sportier and the much-larger Lexus LS is more luxurious.

Even better (for us buyers) is the terrible resale value.

After 3 years and putting 135K miles on my RL, I will strongly agree too!

I actually enjoy and appreciate the RL more today than the day I picked it up with just 4k miles on it.

Driving it down to Disney World tomorrow.

If I wasnt looking for a sporty ride, and more of a plush luxury cruiser; I would have bought a 2G RL.

Best part about this article is that my in-laws have a super snobby attitude about their 2005 Lexus ES. We always get stuck driving one of their cars without AC when we go down there (Dallas) because we're not good enough for the ES. I feel like pointing out that their car is "upscale" (nice word for faux-luxury) while mine is true luxury! *end rant*

Whichever car we happen to be borrowing always seems to have a broken AC. They knew about it both time; once in the middle of summer.

Very unacceptable in the Texas heat.
A/C is a must.

Well, once it was because it was a 25 year old car which they won't get rid of. The second time was a more legitimate reason: a rock punctured the compressor or condenser the day before we got into town. In both cases, the ES was parked the entire time and never used.

Good to read.... I went to go look at a CPO 09 RL to see if it would be worth selling my RL and upgrading to that one but...... there was no real upgrade....... The manager let me take it out for about an hour and my friend and I said it didnt feel any different than my car.... After bring it back I told the manager that I think I'm just going to keep mine until they redo it the RL. Getting back into my car I really appreciated it even more to know that after 4 years of driving it, it is still a desirable car and still a real luxury car that has more features than most new cars out now.... Just Assume!!!

Go RL!

It's actually an excellent deal in the used luxury world, but we already knew that, didn't we?

I'd rather drive a Civic than a Lexus ES. I'm willing to bet they drive that thing down the road and pretend its a Bentley that everyone is turning their heads to look at. No offense to them.

Wow that is nice to know...I just picked up a '06 RL, and I am very happy. And besides the performance I am sure I will be very happy for many more miles to come.

Find that hard to believe my friends 05 RL has had many problems. I see it on this forum also many owners having problems with RL. I like how they gave the 535xi a terrible score based on the HPFP which has been RECALLED.

Well, you're certainly going to find out about problems on a forum; but that doesn't mean the car isn't a good vehicle. We have a member on here who has over 300k miles on his 2G RL. I'd also say that that fact speaks volumes but I wouldn't go around guaranteeing 300k miles on every RL.

As for BMW, IIRC, that HPFP issue went on for a very long time without a fix before that recall was issued. A friend of mine couldn't drive his for a long time when his broke. I'd say an inoperable luxury car justifies a low score on reliability. I'm glad they fixed it, but that's kind of implied by a warranty anyway.
