05+ Rl Jpipe by ATLP
No updates at the moment. We were just about to start/finish the SH-AWD TL system today when we got word that our fabricator's dad was rushed to the hospital. Things are paused atm...this stuff is taking a while, I know.
T-jay, we may ultimately complete the system, but we will be doing it in sections.

Only that we finally got under the SH-AWD TL and we think it is really similar to the RL...we are hoping the same j-pipe and cat pipe will work on both cars. Need to make a proto first and check it out though.
Sorry for not replying in a while guys. The SH-AWD 4g TL has been taking up a lot of time. A couple false starts, etc. But we are almost done with it, then we can revisit the RL.
Wow...I've never heard bad things about HeelToe the whole time they or I've been on s2ki. Is there anyone who has been keeping track of what's going on? Is this still going to happen or it's down the drain by now?
I actually called them to see if they have anything going for us and he said not at the moment..he said they're working on projects such as the TL since there is a larger demand as opposed to the RL. Marcus also said they could continue it down the road but until they finish their other projects..they got nothing now. He said nothing is impossible and he'll post on acurazine if they start something...personally, I doubt it'll happen anytime soon...talked to one of the Acura dealer service guy and he told me to just cut my resonators and keep my stock muffler and it'll sound nice...deep and throaty..like an Infiniti..so I might go that route since I really don't hear much on YouTube with the 5zigen if I'm paying $1200..imho
One thing to keep in mind if you are in it for a throaty sound. The RL has a noise cancellation system, like the Bose noise cancellation headphones, that will probably eliminate most of the throaty sound. There are two microphones located in the front and rear of the interior roof that will detect and process the lower end sounds.

If you have subs, you will almost HAVE to disable it. Personally, I believe the best way is to unplug the entire ANC module from the stock amp on the right quarter panel of the trunk. Other options are unplugging the rear and front mics or changing the setting in the diagnostics. Changing the settings however will not get saved and will have to be done every time you start up. Unplugging the mics proved difficult for me and didn't seem easy to put back to stock. That is why I unplugged the who unit from the amp.
If you want to see the difference, start your car and hold 1 & 6 on the radio. This puts you into the diagnostic menu where ANC can be turned off. Like I mentioned, it will reset when turned off.

Yea like 007spy there are 3 options to disable it. I personally unplugged the rear one since I was working with the third brake light cover, headliner, and dome lights back there anyway. But unplugging it from the amp is smart too.
We completely put the brakes on this project last year because we were entirely too over-comitteded and were never were going to get all our projects done. This one had to go on hold.
Now though we have a AWD system for the TL so completing this part will be a lot easier and hopefully we can ramp it up this coming year. Although right now, it is still off the schedule.

where is the gentleman with the test vehicle? if we can get him to report and see how that design was i'm sure we can get that design mocked up and reproduced by anyone.
has anyone just removed the resonators from teh stock exhaust to see how that sounds?
i'm assuming that an aftermarket exhaust for the RL is really not a ton different than the stock system excpet missing the resonators and other stuff to quiet it down...removing those resonators..which woudl probably cost next to nothing... would be a cheap exhasut mod for somene.. cut them out, and weld in some tubing to fill the hole..
personally... on a car like the RL... i'm not sure a loud exhaust is what I would want. an intake would be okay.. you'd sound bone stock when cruising and ONLY when you mashed the throttle would you get some extra sound...
some of the exhausts I've heard on youtube were way too raspy sounding... the one neronbob had sounded deeper than stock but not obnoxious.... if somethign like that could be done, so that it sounded slightly more aggressive, but still tasteful..that would be nice. given the next to nothign demand for any kind of performance parts for our car, i wouldn't hold my breath for anyone to make anythign for our cars.
if you must have exhausts, intakes, etc.. dump your RL and buy another car.

Spoke to the guys at HeelToe, seems like i am the only that is calling him every 3 mts or so. He is done with 4G TL and now has time to do the RL, but he needs to see demand. Come guys if u want this product this is the chance!!!
Lets make a list to show him demand.
1) TLmaster1

Bleh. I'm ready to lock this thread. It's been two years and no action at all.
I give this thread ten days. If no sufficient interest from the vendor or from members, I will lock it at that point.

I'm in but I don't think this will ever materialize. If they really wanted to work on the RL, they wouldve done it already. If he doesn't post anything of substance I'll just continue working with the vendor I have been working with.

an extra 10-15fwhp and maybe 5-10awhp. the extra umph down low is nice. Jpipe has always been my favorite mod on the j series engine.
Thanks for the info man. I'm not holding my breath with this. Again the price is a big factor if I'm moving forward. I think I spent a lot of cheeze on this car.

I've been talking one of the exhaust vendors here to see if their 4G TL AWD jpipe will fit our RL.
