rear brakes - how many miles before replacing

2016 rdx awd and awp , 40,500 mi, rear brakes, down to metal on one pad, other pad still has life.
also need tires soon, michelins have 5k left on them. I also use snow tires/wheels for 4 months a year, so maybe 30k on OEM michelins.

looking at Conti cross contact 25 (new model replacing the 20). , 70k mi warranty.

replace them when they're worn.

dont go by miles...use visual intelligence...
if one is down to the metal, that would indicate a stuck or sticking caliper...use your eyes to determine what is happening, visual intelligence..

same thing with tires...if worn, replace.

Good to know. I haven't done brakes yet at 46,300 miles. Just replaced the tires with the same thing that was on it - Michelin MXM4's. The old ones probably had 5,000 left on them, but I've got a lot of driving to do in the next month.

everyone drives differently, which means pads will wear differently...

let's say someone enjoys the thrill of stopping late...
or someone rides the brakes more...

those people will have worn out pads faster than say someone who doesnt do that stuff.

Visual intelligence.

For the Front, did you use OEM parts or aftermarket ones? Can you share details? Mine are due soon.

I used Bosch BC1625 QuietCast Premium pads for the front and Bosch 26011548 QuietCast Premium Disc Brake Rotors. I like Bosch rotors because they're zinc plated...so the hats don't rust. I've also had great service with Centric rotors with powder-coated hats and Raybestos Professional Grade Ceramic Disc Brake Pads.

Good luck.
