I have a 2016 RDX in Blue Pearl that my wife drives. I just noticed there is a spot about 1-2" wide on the hood where the paint appears to have peeled off.
Where's the best type of place to take this to get it fixed properly?
I don't want to take it to some body shop which doesn't match it correctly. Or worse, them repaint the entire hood with some aftermarket product that doesn't hold up like an OEM factory paint job.
I'm also not sure what would have caused this? Maybe a rock chip initially that has gotten bigger and worse with exposure over time? Should I just make sure to get a good protective waxing done afterwards or does this look like clear coat failure?
bird poo is acidic. when left in the sun it will eat through paint.
to repair it, you'll need to go to a collision shop... the best shops are the ones that deal with insurance. because they are in the business of repairing cars back to factory specs.
you can get quotes from several shops and then choose the one you think will do the better job while still remaining fair in price.
once it comes back from the shop, you'll need to wash it weekly, or least make sure there is no bird poop that sits on the car.
wax or a protective sealant will work, but you still need to wash it routinely, so that it wont happen again
