Scratch/Dent in door
I recently acquired a minor dent and scratch in the lower portion of the drivers side back door. I parked my car in a parking lot, and some ignorant moron left a shopping cart or pushed it into my car. I didn't exactly see what happened, but when I was going home, the shopping cart was against my door. Now, despite the ignorance displayed by careless individuals, is there any way to fix this? I'm not necessarily sure if the scratch penetrated the paint because it was just a couple of hours ago and it was dark out. Also, I'm not necessarily sure what to look for to check if it penetrated the paint because this is my first car. I saw a white line and maybe silver but I have to check in better light. I will check again in the morning and post an update. But my question is, how much would it be to fix the dent. Or at least cover the scratches up. I was looking online and saw that some dealerships may offer touch up paint or something like that. Any suggestions?

For the dent, look for a painless dent removal service in your area. Dent Wizard is a name that comes to mind. Might cost you around $200 depending on size of the dent. Acura dealers sell touch up paint, you can also purchase it from online sources. Good luck.

Post some pics for us, there is no way to judge from here. You might be able to go
back to the grocery store or mall or wherver the damage occured and ask to see the tapes (someone on here did that and the person was charged with hit and run, though it was a car).
One way to know if the paint was scratches is by feeling it with your nails, if it catches then generally yes the paint has been scratched to the metal.

Kind of premature to ask about since you have so little data to offer. Is it really dented? Is it really scratched? Prices for repair will vary wildly depending on region. You may be able to buff out the marks with polish as well.

I agree. Wife had what looked like a horrible mark from a parking lot. A good triple polish set and lots of elbow grease got rid of 99% of it so you could not tell it was there, unless you knew exactly where to look, and even then it took an eagle eye. A pic would help, if available.

I bet you can buff the superficial scratch right out. Use some meguiers ultimate compound. The dent may be easy to fix with PDR. Look around your area for PDR. they will usually come to you to fix it.

this is why I now park way out in the boondocks away from all the wayward shopping carts and careless door bangers. I feel for ya man! By the way, the Acura touch up paint in the pen applicator is weird, it can be very easily removed with isopropyl alcohol weeks/months and probably years after its been applied. Which only comes in handy if someone applied the wrong color, which is exactly the situation I had.
