Worried Noob

First i wanna say this is a great website you guys have a lot of info. But i just bought a 01 CL-S (been wanting one for years) had it for 3 days and the tranny went out Just a lil worried if i made a mistake in getting the car?? I was reading in the recall forums, alot of people have numerous problems with there replacement transmissions, is that the majority or just a few cases here and there? Any info you guys have would be appreciated

quite a few people have had this problem.

If you still have warranty go get it replaced.

The trannies go out unexpectedly.

You may luck out with your 2nd tranny and never worry about it again.

Or you may end up having it replaced under warranty another 4 times through the ownership of your car.

Just keep in mind that Acura extended the drivetrain warranty to 100,000 miles. For as long as you car is under that, you should be safe!

I know what you mean brother!! I bought mine at 57K miles and have not had a problem with the tranny, yet. Hopefully yours is still under 100K miles. Let us know if you got any grief from the dealer. I'll need to know for future reference.

Well my only concern is that i didnt buy it from an acura dealer...it only had 50k miles. The closest american acura dealer is 8hrs away. Luckily i was in canda for the weekend when it happened and they have a dealer there but that's still 5hrs away. They are in the process of replacing it now just concerned that if i get it back and it goes out a week later.

Keep in mind that you can't get warranty work done in Canada for an american Acura vehicle, and vice versa.

My Acura's american and I imported it into Canada -> bye bye warranty!

How would that void the warranty?? They are in the process of doing it and should be done around noon today. I do know that the guy had to call around to a couple of people to get approval before he did it.

I had mine replaced about 10K ago, and haven't had any problems with it since. :

Hopefully it will be fixed and you won't have to worry about it again.

Are you saying that a Canadian Acura dealer is replacing your transmission, under warranty, on your American Acura vehicle at no charge ?
