transmission failure

I have a 2001 CL with about 43,000 miles on it. on saturday i was driving at a normal speed, (around 40mpg) when the check engine light went on as well as the TCS light. the engine would run up to 3500 RPM before the transmission would change gears, and then it would 'slam' into the next gear. the car is still under an extended warranty but the dealership hasn't told me what was wrong. does anybody have any ideas what the problem with my car is? thanks a bunch.

Sounds like the tranny is toast. The dealership should be able to tell you right away though. I drove mine in and drove out with a Chevy POS about an hour later.

i drove my car in to the dealership immediatly. they said it was the tranny just by listening to my story. on a side note, i asked the service manager about the replacement that they put in all CL's, he said they are NOT rebuilds in the sense that the entire transmission is rebuilt, they are only called that because they use a used CASE, not the internals, everything else is brand new from the factory.

Lets just hope that they don't give you a Hyunday Sonata as the courtesy car.. I've been pimpin the HYUN for almost 2 weeks now.

I need to move my old subs in the Sonata so I can rattle everything from the rear license plate to the sparkplugs.

Good luck with ur car!

A Sonata is not bad for a rental... I pimped one of those for a week or so when my tranny went out. They tried to give an Accent at first, I told them I at least needed a V6. The Sonata they gave me wasn't bad, seats weren't that comfortable though, but I spent a lot of time in the car, got my monies worth, lol.
