Timing belt change in Milwaukee

Hey guys, I was wondering if there was anyone on here from Milwaukee that has done the Timing belt and water pump service in the area. I am planning to do it soon because I am currently at 106,xxx and I know that the TB is no joke. Honda/Acura dealerships are quoting me around $1,1xx-$1,3xx for the sevice. Anybody know a good, shop that will do it for less? I've read around here that people have gotten it for around 700, even 4-500. I just wanted to ask here first before I look like a noob and walk into an CaRx asking if they would do it. Thanks!

My timing belt cost $500 but I had to have a bearing changed for around a $100 so it ended up costing me $600. (included seals, wp, and all little things too)

Best thing to do is look in the white pages for a Honda certified center (not a dealership obviously) that does work on these cars. Timing belts are simple for shops that has seen the same car over and over, therefore they can budget less hours if they want to be competitively priced.

Don't just call random shops, because they have no idea the time difference between an Acura, an Infiniti, a saab. They are just going to assume the highest time possible and charge you for that even if it doesn't take that long.

Thanks. I just called 2 auto shops, and both quoted me 725-730. One place said that doesnt include dirving belts if needs replacement. Does that sound about right?

Go into the mechanic bay at the dealer and walk up to the first guy who has a hood open. Ask them if they want a side job doing a whole timing belt job. Parts will come out to about $300-350 (if you get them from Honda) and he might want $100-200 to do it.

I did the same thing and I paid $325 for a timing belt done AND a valve adjustment without parts. Oh and the same guy will be doing my rear main seal along with this and the total came out to $1015 with parts. Acura wanted $2700 for the same service.

I have a brand new OEM timing belt and water pump for a CL-S. I was going to do the job myself but didn't have the time needed and the place where I got mine changed would only use their own parts.

So if you need an OEM belt and waterpump let me know $120 takes both, that includes shipping.

wow thats nice, and cheap! but i think all these shops only want to use their items for liability issues. I would if i could. I was going to get them off ebay from Acura dealers on ebay, cheap too.

So I called the 20 shops just now, all of them are quoting around $730. one shop quoted me at $620. So unless I found someone that would do it freelance, im thinking that I won't be able to get it done under $600.

Question. Aside from timing belt and water pump, is it necessary to change the tensioner and drive belts?

I would change the tensioner since its right there and they are known to leak..
Drive belts would be a good idea but not necessary

Did the same thing and got quoted $550 with parts included...i'm planning on doing mine sometime this week. Those guys always need extra money and usually never have problem doing side work.

So got it done yesterday quoted 670, paid 700 with taxes for everything. Pretty good, i went to a shop called Car-isma (used to be honda motorsports but honda asked them to change the name in the 80's) very nice shop, huge, great people and a decent price in this area at least. lowest quote i got was $400 from an independent ASE mechanic on craigslist.

thanks for all ur info/advice guys.
