Well yea the kit is a ripoff but that is typical. I could just fab my own brackets. Then buy the quick latch from www.quick-latch.com

Here is the proper link. www.quik-latch.com. If I make my own brackets and buy rest from quik-latch materials should run me about $60 a savings of 140. Gotta love companies like toxicfab that screw over their customers.

I realized king motorsports facility is a little over an hour from me. They offer engine building, tranny repair, custom header, custom exhaust, custom roll cages, dyno tuning, etc.
If they are willing to I am gonna drop car off for custom header, exhaust, and 6 point race roll bar.
In the future I am looking at engine build, tranny rebuild and more.
Will let you know how it goes and if they are even willing to work on this car or the j series.

King motorsports is willing to work with me. Just gotta wait on the weather so I can drive it up there.
Their prices seem rather high but the work and materials are solid. Someone said $1200 for the header they made then for a 4 cylinder. They said exhausts start at 800. They are not familiar with the j series so engine build would be more than I could stomach. Would rather drive across country to paul for that.
On a side note pegasus racing supply store is on the same street.

This reminds me of high school, my dad used to work at UPS as a mechanic for 30+ years and the man would work on anything with an engine, cars, trucks, ATV's, racing go karts and more. Tons of big boy toys at my disposal growing up thanks to him and he helped me with my first truck, a hand me down Nissan 4x4 king cab.
it was a late 80's model, but only had a 4 cyclinder, probably not more than 120hp. He helped me drop that engine out and he brought home a perfectly fine engine that UPS was discarding from one of their small vans...all it needed was a slight rebuild and BAM my 4 banger was transformed into a screaming straight six, over 100 more hp and great pull on hills. Over the course of that summer, we dropped in the new engine, did a 3 inch body and 2 inch suspension lift, added 33" Mickey Thompson tires and he installed a custom interior roll cage, fully padded and it came in handy as one day on the desert sand dunes, we rolled it but we were all just fine.
All that was fun, but the best mod he did to the truck was got some very thick pipe, welded two pipes together, then FILLED the pipe with CEMENT, then sanded and painted black to match the grill and other trim. Let me tell you, this was the best bumper EVAR!
I got rear ended once by a person who came flying up on me at a red light going 45+, tried to swerve to miss me, but ended up clipping my left rear bumper and it demolished their front end and left me with barely a paint chip
That truck wasn't worth $2K when my dad handed it down to me, but after the upgrades and driving it for 2 years, we sold it for $5K and ended up rolling that money into my 2nd car, which started my love of Acura's, a 1988 Acura Integra SE coupe (foam rubber whale tail, anyone recall?) white with the white matching rims. I drove that car for 10 years and over 200K miles...that car was a champ, never failed me once and took me all over the US during summers. Ever since that car, I've been loyal to Acura, but they need a replacement coupe fast! Luckily this CL I have will last 10 more years, hopefully in time for Acura to release a coupe that doesn't have the cost of an NSX.
sorry for the thread hijack, but the damn rollcage had me going down memory lane

cool story. I am only one in my family that works on cars or anything for that matter. Have to teach myself everything.
I bought a pack of these rubber grippers to use for trunk prop rod. I also got a rubber grommet for the hole end of rod goes in.
New license plate bolts on.
I was thinking my car isn't ricey enough so decided to install tow hooks so I have a beer/soda holder when I work on my ride and am mad jdm yo. Plus I can bump other peoples cars and not damage mine.
Decided to throw the rear tow hook on. I needed longer bolts, ones supplied were too short.
I am thinking about maybe cutting the red marked section in this pic. Don't think this would work with the ronjon rear sticking down a few inches more unless you hack into it.
To get the front tow hook to fit where I wanted I decided to make a spacer out of aluminum.
Had to cut a section out of the bumper. Good thing is noone will ever see it unless they are laying on ground under car.
Here it is mounted. I had the foam upside down in this pic.
Bumper finally back on. Just ignore the dirt and greasy finger prints.

Why is the cup holder on the outside of the car?
Thats not much too the 8G Accord headers as the manifold is integrated into the heads. They basically have a downpipe off each head that meet in a j-pipe like ours.

I was at the chicago auto show yesterday. I took some pics, but my camera ran out of batteries half way thru so I missed a lot of the cars.
I would have to say the aston martin vanquish was my favorite car there. That thing is just absolutely stunning in person. I really liked the cam am edition mclaren mp4-12c also. I was not impressed by the new corvette or viper. They look like plastic hot wheels toys.
I didn't even bother looking at honda or acura since the new nsx wasnt there. Even kia and hyundai are more exciting now.
Here is the album.

The benen tow hooks are good quality my only concern is that they are looked at as rice, plus the color I have dsn't help. I should have gotten black. Oh well I am not really concerned what others think. I use my car.
I tried installing the nrg harness bar again. I was gonna make some angled spacers but realized it would be too much of a pain and not look proper. My harness guide bar is fine till I can get a custom one made.
My passenger seat rail has the brackets welded to it. There is no actual base section. My xl seat never fit it perfect plus there was already some play in the rail.
I contacted wedge engineering and they are making me a custom seat base. They will leave it to me to drill mounting holes. I am gonna ditch the slider and bolt the side mounts directly to the base.
The passenger seat dsnt need adjustment plus it will save some weight and no play issues over time.
Just put my harness in and am gonna drive it for the first time in months. Should be fun.

Here are the 2 pics I meant to post in a previous post.
I washed the car a few days ago and got to try out a new toy.
I snapped some quick pics, hope these are what u wanted.
I was working on repositioning passenger mirror today for better vision. Gonna have to make a new panel.
I am thinking of flipping the base from horizontal to vertical because that moves the pivot point further back. I am thinking of drilling holes in the car to make new points for the screws also(shown by arrows). This pic shows what I mean pretty much. Angle isn't perfect atm tho.

Made some progress on the mirror.
I drilled new mounting holes. I also ground down that metal lip that sticks out and is in the way of the panel sitting flush.
Cut holes in rubber and foam.
Put the screws in to check fitment. Top corner sits more flush now.
Now just need to cut out a new panel, drill holes and mount it. Oh and also touch up paint on bare metal.

I drove with the mirror in the position of my previous post and my vision was still blocked. I decided to drill another hole even lower and mount mirror even lower on the cf panel and that finally did the trick.
Here is the final position with good visibility.
Need to decide whether I do the same to driver side to make them match.
Here is the new panel cut with 3 main mounting points drilled.
The wedge seat bracket arrived. It is for the 98-02 accord coupe. I just had them not add the slider mounting tabs or any mounting holes so I can drill my own. I am going to just mount seat to the bracket without slider since it isn't needed for passenger.
The seat bracket is not a perfect fit, but I expect that by now. I had to bore out all the mounting holes to get it to fit right. It should be good now.

I forgot to mention I ordered the luk clutch and flywheel. Decided to just stay stock for this one. Ordered the flywheel from carolinaclutch for 250 shipped. It arrived today and damn is that thing heavy. I ordered the clutch from partsgeek for 164 shipped. I also still have my rsx omnipower master cylinder.

So after hearing so much how front wheel drive sucks from people like small brained Jeremy clarkson and his fanboys I want to get a custom license plate with "fwd" in it so people know they are getting beat by fwd.
I was thinking maybe "fwd son" or "fwd btu" as in fwd beat you.
Anyone have some better suggestions?

you bastage. Atleast jeremy said he liked the astra. I can't believe he picked it over the megane tho. I was happy they finally had it on the show even if they are a few years late. They should have tested the focus rs not the crappy st version. Was also nice to see him point out the benefits of hydraulic power steering and a mechanical lsd. That stuff is lost on the youngins nowadays.
My car will be as light as ur 4 cyl 2 seater soon.
Btw atleast the frs was faster then the fiat 500 abarth. Too bad it was over 3 sec slower than a useless fwd paperweight.
Anytime I hear ppl say front wheels cant handle over 200 hp I wonder if they realize awd supercars send much more than 200 to the front wheels.
They have obviously never seen the fwing that pushes 1100 hp thru the front wheels. The last timeattack at willow springs the fwing was the 2nd fastest car overall, only beaten by a nsx that is the fastest timeattack car in US right now. Chris Rado isn't the driver anymore.

Here is the seat installed on the wedge bracket. I might make another mounting point further back to give more room when entering vehicle and shift that weight more rearward.
The wedge bracket actually weighs more than my slider with mounting brackets on it. The wedge bracket weighs 7 lbs.
My old slider setup is 6 lbs. Wonder if a cross brace is needed for structural support.
I finished my dead pedal backing plate. Here is what it used to look like. It weighed roughly 2 lbs then. It now weighs .8 lbs
I cut and ground off more metal.
Primed it.
Painted it and baked it.
I noticed the oem hardware was bulky and the bolts were much longer than needed. I used smaller stainless hardware and an aluminum washer on one bolt. Oem hardware weighs 43g and new hardware weighs 21g.
On a side note, I noticed they had some aluminum washers at menards for 15-25 cents a pop so I bought some to replace non structural washers. I also am replacing bolts that are longer than needed with shorter stainless bolts.
Here is an example of weight difference of aluminum washers vs stainless steel ones. It takes 3 aluminum to equal the weight of one steel washer.
Here is the foot rest backing plate and pedal installed. I even matched the holes I drilled so they would line up with pedal holes, not that anyone will ever notice.
I mocked up the front ron jon lip to get an idea of fitment. The pieces are rather flimsy and no hardware was supplied so every piece will need custom metal brackets to hold it in place. For the front I am thinking of using brackets or maybe just making a splitter that would support the bottom. Ground clearance might be an issue then.
I am also thinking whether I should paint the kit or maybe just get it vinyl wrapped maybe matte black. What do you think? I am getting eager to install it. I am worried it will warp too much if I just leave it in storage.
I have also been going over my aerodynamic mod options since that kinda affects my decision.
Here are some pics
There is a gap on this side where all the tape is. 3m tape should fix this.
Both of these corners by the foglihts have gap issues to fix.
The middle fit is a little off and needs some adjustment.

I will eventually just get it re-wrapped.
