I was told the Valvetrain package from KMS offered valves that could raise the compression. Going off of the Cyl head and piston volume you posted combined with my deck height and with the .027 head gasket the specs show me just shy of 12:1 I was contemplating getting them to get to the 12:1 mark
I was contemplating running the higher comp valves to get to closer to the 12:1, as i stand im at or around 11.4-11.7 with .030/.027 head gasket (with your CC specs)
Seeing im going to stay NA i dont think ill have a problem with 11.5:1. Ill most likely end up with a full standalone to do so properly and safely. Ive gone as high as 12.5:1 before on one of my hondas. That was a fun one. Someone needs to come up with a set of adjustable cam gears that dont change the pickup on the rear of the gear when adjusted.
Yea i built a 327 and it was 12.7:1 on 91. I liked the simplicity of it. Dial in the timing and away you went. Though i still dont think its heads flowed anywhere near what these honda heads are capable of. Ill be throwing in a different cam and some roller rockers on my 350 in my ski boat this winter. I love how cheap hp is for the 350s.

***UPDATE***
Car has been returned back to her rightful place. Should be able to start on engine dismantling here soon. And for those who are curious, the first day at the shop was "busy" for being its very first day in operation. Day one= Success!

You know we will all be doing the same Eric.
Being "slammed" would be an easier way of life for me than what I've been through the past few weeks bud. No exaggeration. The shop (Auto Electric Services in Plano, Tx) opened up on September 1st. So far, business has been booming.
And to all of the members on Acurazine who have brought us their business and supported us, you are very much appreciated! Remember though, I work on other cars besides just Acura's and Honda's. Lol

Ok, since I've actually done some things to the car here lately, I'll go ahead and make an update about it.
So, I basically picked up where I left off: excess blow-by caused by using cheap Total Seal rings. No matter what, they wouldn't seat to the 3.7's cylinder walls. The engine had been stripped back down to the short block for about 4 weeks before recently getting back into it. So yesterday I had some free time (for once) and yanked the pan off of it...mind you the engine/trans are still installed in the car. This morning when I arrived at the shop I ordered some oem rings from Acura. They were actually sitting on the shelf from when I had ordered them maybe 6-8 weeks ago after realizing what was happening. I finished the front three cylinders today but still have the rear three to do. While they were out, I inspected the walls for any glazing or damage but everything looked good. The Total Seal rings however appeared to have been roughened up on the ring edges where they contact the cylinder walls and this confirmed my suspicion of them not seating correctly. My only thought is that whatever material the rings are made out of may not be compatible with the machining process Acura uses from the factory but I can't say really.
Over the past month or so, I've done some very intense research and learning on thermal barriers (heat shielding) in an attempt to rid the heat soak problems I was initially having prior to the 3.7 being installed. After juggling about 14 different ideas and decisions, I finally made up my mind on what to do and come up with the following for the exhaust/turbo system:
1. The downpipe and turbo manifolds were all ceramic coated (externally and internally) professionally. This was after having a few failed attempts using VHT's Flameproof product.
2. The same components were also wrapped using DEI Titanium wrap that uses pulverized lava rock that's made fibrous and then woven into a "cloth". It has a substantially higher heat resistance than traditionally fiberglass wrap.
3. Then all parts were coated using the VHT Flameproof ceramic coating aerosol paint VERY heavily. I used it here because it flaked off or didn't stick to well, it would be held into place by the final step. So that makes two layers of ceramic that's been applied.
4. I then purchased a few BMW heat shields and reshaped them to where I could cover the same components. This stuff gives massive air gap between the tubing and outside layer (its double layered) and we all know air makes one of the best insulators.
So that's four layers total. Poof be gone heat soak!
I have Hickam welding up some sheet metal templates I made for my turbo that will be used as a heat shield. This will also be ceramic coated and have DEI wrap inside of it as well.
Hope to have her together within a week if possible.

Robert, I suggest using the DEI silicone spray on the wrapped portion...

Forgot about their silicone coating, thanks. That should actually do quite well on holding the ceramic paint in place.
In case nobody has noticed, I'm very thorough on any task that's done and generally don't come half-steppin'. So if I came across as obsessive on the heat management thing....well, that's because I am.
Btw, nobody's started any new builds since my absence? Pity!

Good luck and congrats on the first start Kris. First starts are almost as sentimental as child birthing.
And speaking of which, Anil, I've been there and done that....FIVE times my friend. Luckily #5 turned out to be the best one yet in regards to sleeping habits. I swear, enduring a baby at those times will age any parent a solid 15 years until he/she grows out of that stage!

You might get lucky, our youngest (1.5 yrs old) slept from 7 -730pm to 6am EVERY single night and still does. Only once did we have to get up to feed her when she was an infant.

Not sure if the wife is breast feeding but with our first we went thru having to get up 2+ times to feed at night till we took the nurses advise and added a little formula to the breast milk. It made it "thicker" and filled him up longer. Might be worth a shot. It worked for both of my buddies who had kids recently
the dude was born at 00:52...so he has his nights and days flipped....we are lucky coz he aint cranky...so if he is throwing a fit we know something is not right....
we tweaked his feeding so we (the wifey) feeds him at ~11PM....and we hit the sack....he wakes us up at 3AM and gets another feeding and then at 7AM....so we only wake up once per night....
but here is the catch, during the day, after a feeding, he goes back to sleep in 5 minutes....at night he wants to 'play'...so it takes 20-30 minutes to put him back to sleep....as I said we are glad he is not cranky....he will just look around and make some awesome sounds LOL....
about formula, yes formula takes longer to digest and hence keeps them 'full' for longer....at the hospital we started supplementing with formula but he was starting to get lethargic and hence we took him off that....
he feeds ~8 times a day....every 2-3 hours during the day and every 4 hours at night....as I mentioned brother, I cant complain....he has been a great kid sooo far....and he listens to me:

I remember when I only had one kid. How stressful it all seemed at the time (19 years old) and the thought of ever having another one seemed like a really bad idea while being woke up every 2-3 hours all throughout the night. Now that I have five (no more) my wife and I consider it a "break" when their grandparents keep two for the night and we only have three to watch. Lmao.
All humor aside though, there's not a better moment in this life than when I'm at home at night with all of them just watching them all play and laugh in the living room floor. It's then you realize that this it's the only sense of genuine fulfillment a human being gets in his/her life.
With our cars, its like we're always wanting more wether it be looks or power....somehow never satisfying. But with a child, that contentment is there from the day he/she is born.
Good to hear from all you dads on the forum.

congrats swoosh! our second is 4 months old now and he is great. Our first had colic and cried and puked a lot! Both our kids are/were breast fed and ate every 3 hours for the first few months!
