Wheel damage during assembly!

I didn't notice this wheel damage until I drove my new CL-S home and washed it before storing for the remainder of the winter. I called the dealer and told him the situation and he told me to bring it in. Unfortunately it's in storage until April so I'll have to wait to get this resolved. I did mail a written letter and picture to the dealer so it's documented.

its a scuff mark? Probably can be buffed, polished out by a wheel specialist. I doubt that a new wheel replacement would be warranted, since it still looks structurally sound.

I had the same problem with a Toyota Highlander. Wheel had a tiny ding on it I didn't notice till I got home. Dealer replaced under warranty although one service guy said I should have noticed it during my inspection with the salesman. I told him there was no inspection and I noticed it only after I checked the air pressure a week after delivery. They finally gave in.

The picture really doesn't do it justice. I know the wheel is structurally sound; it's just an eye sore. It's deep enough where it cut through the clear coat and I can see bare metal (different color than the alloy). It's about 1/16" deep. I ok with having the wheel resurfaced or patched as long as it's not noticeable and holds up over the years.

mattg,

I did the normal walk around looking down each side from front to rear (looking for dings). Also looked around for surface scratches because this car sat on the lot for a month. Did the interior look around and that was fine as well.

One thing i didn't do was look at each wheel in detail. It was a cold windy day and I must have had a brain freeze!! I never expected to see wheel damage. I've purchased many new cars in the past and never had wheel damage (especially on an Acura!)

I spoke w/dealer and they said they would see what they could do. I hope they keep their promise or else they'll have to deal with me, a pretty persistant pain in the ass!!

Some one at the dealer must have noticed the damage when they prep up the car for delivery. Unfortunately, most people working at most dealers are not resposible. A resposible dealer would have told you about it and what they plan to do about it. Instead they just hoped that you would'nt notice it and the problem would just go away Typical lousy dealer treatment of customers
