water using the aem v2

I just purchased an aem v2 intake and should be arriving in a few days, and i just searched and read some stuff about using the aem and water getting into the engine.

basically from reading i got from it that:

a little bit of water won't hurt the engine
you gotta be going through a big ass puddle and get flooring it at the same time
bypass valve is totally useless (might even be worse)

I have a 03 CL-P and it isn't dropped, so approximately how high above the ground will the filter be?

Also, hypothetically let's say I went through a fairly deep puddle, how deep would it have to be to actually affect the engine badly?

Would driving fast in hard rain (Southern California rain) be bad in terms of water splashing up to the filter?

Also, i think i read earlier that the splashguards help a little in terms of getting water away from the filter.

This kind of makes me wish I got a CT icebox since water doesn't reach the filter as easily ast he AEMs,

Am i just being paranoid about this?

ur being paranoid, down here it doesnt rain nearly enough for you to have to worry about it. the filter would be sitting right behind your driver side fog light cover.

You're being paranoid.

Let's just say, I have driven through 6+ inches of water in BOTH my cars which have BOTH CAI near the lower, left grille and I am doing just fine.

Since you're not dropped, if you did submerge the filter, you'd probably have far worse problems.

You should be OK. If it makes you feel any better, get the by-pass for it.

A little water on the filter is no problem, the problem comes when you have the filter submerged in water. I was nervous at first when i got mine, but then i have many things how the filter has to really be submerged so no i drive normal unless a raod is really flooded. Just be smart about it and enjoy it when vtec kicks in!
