also, before anybody says anything -- I am in the middle of a HUGE install in the car so most things are just temporarily placed and a couple panels are off ... just bear with it and you will be surprised as mofo's when its all done!

That is tight dude! I was planning something very similar to that. Have another monitor installed where the stock system is. What did you use to do the Navi conversion? I read that pioneer makes a device that does this and some guy on the www.acura-tl.com board is currently making a harness for the pioneer decoder or whatever so that it is plug and play. I can see a lot of potential for your car! Keep up the good work!

All, the pioneer AVC-RGB1 is what I used for the decoder. It works quite well and is somewhat adjustable but the picture quality is phenomenal!

Hey AdamR..
I'm just curious.. what instructions did you follow to do this, I'm going to be doing mine in the near future and don't really have a clue what to do.. I wish I could find someone in Chicago to help me out. I'm probably going to post a thread in a week or two to see if anyone around here could help me out.
thanks!

I have seen your instrux before, I'm just a little woried because I have no Soldering experience (or soldering gun for that matter) and don't want to fvck this one up...
I know you guys say it's fairly easy, but how will it be for someone that has no experience in this area?? I'm not a moron, just haven't done much in this area before. Thanks

I haven't done this yet, but from looking at the instructions and having done some soldering before, at least have someone there with you that has soldering experience. Or get some practice before attempting this.
You can easily screw things up with a solder iron. On the other hand, once you become comfortable with an iron, you can make it look professionally done.

Dom,
I ended up using TypeSDragoons instructions for this process. They are quite well put together and if you know your way around electronics you should have no problem with this. As far as soldering goes, it couldnt be easier! You only need a couple things to do this and tney are all available at your local radio shack. One is, of course, the iron itself. You can get one there for $10 if I remember correctley. Then you will need solder. The solder that you will need comes in a roll like wire. It is quite flexible and positionable. Now, to actually solder, you need to do a couple things for preperation. First, heat up your iron until it is hot enough to melt the solder on just a touch. You should not need to jab the solder to get it to melt. Once its heated up you can put it down for a couple minutes to give your project "soldering training wheels". What are these, you ask. Well, this is how I taught myself to solder well. Essentially you get some electrical tape and tape everything but the contact your are soldering. This means that even if you solder over the contact its only going to go on the tape. Then when you remove the tape, even if you soldered over its not touching the contact..... voila!! Need any more tips? Let me know -- its pretty simple though! =)

Holy crap, man...I wouldn't be able to do that wiring. Was it difficult to do the conversion? That is VERY sweet.

Makes me wish I had gotten navigation...are you still able to use the navigation system on your car?
