V1 Hardwire Questions...
1) What happened to the V1 Hardwire installation instructions?
2) Who was it that has their remote display mounted on top of the steering column? I want to mount mine there as well.
Any help would be great,
Thanks guys.

It's not that hard. Run the wiring to the fuse panel and pull the windshield wiper fuse out....(on only with car)....strip and put the red wire in hole and replace fuse in holder. Ground the black wire to the gold screw inside the panel. If this dosen't make sense I will take a pic of mine. The display works well on the column.

Okay... so just run the wires along the headliner and then behind the A-pillar trim pannel towards the fuse panel?
I still want to see the pic of the remote display mounted on the steering column.

Remote display pics:

I chose to mount the actual unit on the visor. The factory windshield strip doesn't hurt the range at all IMO. My entire windshield is tinted with metallic tint as well and I still get great range.

Below is a pic of the two wires you need to hook up. To remove the fuse panel pull GENTLY on the bottom right outward. Be carefull because you can break the clips easy. The red wire is for power. Remove the 30 amp fuse in the picture (windshield wiper) and place a small stripped secion over the hole then put the fuse back in pushing the wire into the hole as well. The radar detector will turn on and off with the car if you use this fuse. The black wire is for the ground. I chose to ground it to the big bolt in the picture but you can put it anywhere that is solid metal. Take a 10mm socket and undo the bolt enough to slide the black wire under it....Tighten it back and your good to go.

How is the remote display mounted? And where is the remote display wire ran to get to the top of the column? Does it wrap right around down near the fuse box?

It's very visible to you here (and not to the cops if you drive into NVA). Mine isn't hardwired because I use the sun visor too much, but I keet the display here.
I used that blue poster putty instead of the Velcro to hold the remote display down.
It sits lower and doesn’t “rock” as much as the Velcro did.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
When routing the power wire by the steering column, be couscous of anything that moves when you turn the wheel.
Use wire ties to hold the wire out of the way.

Wonder how much room there is inside the plastic cover going over the steering column?
Can you only plug the wire into the remote unit from the left side?
I'm thinking a popup unit that comes out of the steering column cover. Stealthy.

BTW I moved my V1 from as high as it could go on the windshield to just below the tinted strip. My range increased noticably, but I don't pick up anything new that I didn't before.
