Tradin in 99 3.0 for an S -- Need Advice

All -

To reward myself for surviving a rather ugly divorce, I am going to trade in my 99 CL 3.0 and get an S --- probably this weekend after I do some homework on my own. Going to go with the NAV system as well as a rear wing.

My question is...for those who have bought one already --- what "extras" do you wish you bought (or didn't buy)? And...with all the "born on" talk that has been going on...what is the latest "build date" of the CLS.

Any advice you guys (and gals) have would be great.

Thanks

SR

The only goodies are after market products. I'll let other share what they are. I am not into all that, otherwise, I think the is great "as is". Don't pass on the Navi......I will NEVER own another car without one !
Good luck and WELCOME neighbor !

Make sure you tell the dealer to throw in the wheel locks, splash guards, and 35% tint at no extra charge. As for the spoiler, you can save about $200 or so buying an aftermarket one.

I just ordered Comptech springs last week, they should be here tomorrow!

Thanks guys --- I should have been more clear. I am looking for the dealer installed stuff and not after market at this time. So questions like "do you wish you got the mud guards?" or "@*^#$ I wish I got the trunk mat included." You know...things like that.

You can get an aftermarket spoiler for $238 from http://www.sportwing.com/spoilers, and i've seen the factory spoiler for $400 something online too. my dealer wanted $900 for the spoiler, so i told him where he can stick that spoiler ...

$900 for a spoiler? MSRP on the factory one is $665 installed. I would tell the dealer to go fuck himself and buy my car and spoiler somewhere else.

The two most important thing I think you can get or for them to throw in is:

1) Extended Warranty
2) Free Service for you car

I got the free service until 24k, but I did not get the extended warranty.

romigone,
must haves (IMHO):
1) splash guards (too much rain in the paradise)
2) wheel locks (every prick tries to steal whatever is on the way).
3)warranty (and go do some racing - dealer will pay for the f.cked up transmission ).

Hey, best of luck to you in trading in your 3.0 for a Type S. I did the exact same thing in February. My trade in was not what I had hoped for meaning I only got 17,000 for my 3.0. I only had 7,00 miles on it, but I did get my Type S for 28,800 with out navi, but I did get muds and moonroof visor. Any way you will see a major difference in power as well as a much more repsonsive tranny. he stereo is about the same, maybe there is a little more bass in the Type S. In any case I think you will find the Type S to be the type of car you might want to hold onto for a while. It really is a bargin when yu compare it to others on the market. Once again, best of luck to you. One thing, just make sure that your front bumper is lined up properly and make sure that there isnt too much of a gap between the grill and front bumper. Its not a major problem, but It just might be sumthin' to look out for.

Yeah...I am not expecting a lot either for my trade in. I am coming up on 36K. Car is in great shape but it has been in a wreck (5K to the back end) but the body shop did an awesome job repairing it.

I am leaning toward the mud guards and the wheel locks are a given --- had the tires of my 92 Integra stolen from the driveway of my house several years ago. And the rear wing and NAVI system are a done deal.

Getting very excited about joining the crowd.

Ya, I agree with most:

1) Spoiler (factory one)
2) wheel locks (definitely should be free)
3) Trunk tray (good to have, makes cleaning so easy)
4) NAVI!!! (chicks totally dig it)
