Ticking in/around engine

I have a 03 sp with about 35k on it. I have a ticking noice coming from the engine bay. Its really loud when I accelarate and doesn't really happen when its cold. I had my dealer check out the smog sensor of some type. They said that they only heard normal injector noise. I can understand some injector noise, but this is loud. They also said valves could need adjusting but 35k seems really early for this. They also thought carbon deposits, but I don't think my car would have them!! My dads TL-S has 81k on it and its really quiet. So....I have used the search button on this site, but I haven't gotten a good answer yet so Im trying to get some more knowledge from you knowledgable people!

Thanks...I know its a long post but advise is greatly apprechated.

Sup Hommie,
I had the same problem with my 03 CL-S 6 speed. The ticking noise you are hearing is coming from the engine bay. It is due to your valves being out of alignment. I took my car into Acura of Riverside and the did a Valve adjustment. I had close to 16K when this was done. So i would take your car back to the dealer and demand a valve adjustment. The dealer gets paid to do warranty work on your car, so i dont see why the would refuse to do it. But anyhow, after the valve adjustment, my car sounds so quite, better then the day i picked it up. Well, hope this helps. Good luck bro.

BTW: They didn't charge me anything! ALL UNDER WARRANTY!

When I brought my car in for the 3750 service, I had the valves adjusted cause they were noisy. At 24k, they are noisy again... so I'll have them adjusted again when I bring my car in for the next service.

I remember reading something on the www.nhtsa.com website that a certain number of CL VINS had out-of-spec front cams. However, my VIN wasn't listed. Maybe this is a bigger scope issue -or- maybe it's completely unrelated? I bring this up when I bring my car in.

Make : ACURA Model : 3.2CL Year : 2003
Service Bulletin Num : 020029 Date of Bulletin: NOV 25, 2002
NHTSA Item Number: 10000419

Summary: PRODUCT UPDATE REGARDING THE FRONT CAMSHAFT KIT. *TT

Well...I took my car to Acura of Brookfield and they said they checked the valves and 2 were out of spec and they fixed them, but the ticking is still there. I wish I could figure this out cause it drives me nuts. Any other ideas...could maybe the camshaft be moving....not sure if this can happen...I looked at the camshaft thing above and I don't fall in it. I am a very early 6 speed though, the car was bought back in June or July of 02. Also, im new to the Orlando area...there's (2) dealers here...what are people's thoughts on which one is better.

Thanks

Your not talking about the EVAP sensor are you? Because that ticks on all CLs and there is no way to get rid of it .. you just have to deal with it. Open your hood and see of the ticking is coming from a little black canister type thing on the firewall right behind the drivers seat.

They looked at that too, its pretty quiet there. I checked on my dads TL-S and his is a loud tick, but you can't really hear it when the hood is closed. I dont' know if maybe a pump or a belt is doing something funny or injectors gone bad?? I haven't gotten a stethascope yet, but the sound is coming from the middle of the engine foward. I wish I could hear an answer other than...this is normal for this car...I can belive some noise would be normal but this is really loud....Is there anyone in the Orlando Area that would want to listen to it and tell me what they think???

Thanks agian

varunverma23, It could also be the purge solenoid valve. People have reported that they can hear and if they touch the valve, feel, the clicking...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179592

Search for purge solenoid valve for more info.

i can hear a mechanical ticking sound coming from my rear valve cover/ fuel injector area. i've already gotten my valves adjusted once and adjusted them myself once and it doesn't stop. i'm thinking it COULD be a fuel injector but i doubt it. a exhaust manifold leak would make a deeper sound would'nt it? like a thumping instead of a mechanical ticking?

i have no idea what else it could be. but its definetly from the rear valve cover/fuel injector area.
