Question What has worked for you??

Ok so I need to get rotors and new brake pads.

Been reading A LOT and now I have a few questions.

What do you thing is better POWERSLOT Cryo Slotted Brake Rotor or the Racing Brake UP rotors?

What I want is the same as the rest of you, better performance with No Warping and little as possible Rust.

Then for break pads that don’t have a lot of dust and no noise, what do you guys think of Hawk HPS pads vs EBC Greenstuff?

Let me say I wish I had enough to get a BBK, but I don’t. so I want the next best thing.

I have 500 to spend on brake, with most on the front rotors, and then pads all round. Rears will some blank rotors or cheaper slotted rotors.

If you think all the products I have mentions are crap, please enlighten me with what you think I should get.

Thanks in advance, and cant wait to get what you guys suggest,

Hank Scorpio.

Oh almost for got, <your name here>, on your way out, if you want to kill somebody, it would help me a lot.

Not sure about which rotor is better. But for sure, get the ebc green stuff. Very low dust and grabs nicely.

My EBC GS pads give out a lot of brake dust. I clean my rims then i could notice brake dust the next day. If you want low brake dust then get ceramic pads.

I had Rotora Slotted rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads. The setup worked really well. I also had NSX calipers so my stopping power was different, but in the 12 to 15K miles I had the rotors, they never warped.

Most Cryo rotors done properly will be your best choice. I'm sure PowerSlot knows how to do a Cryo rotor and would be willing to bet that it's a winner.

on my last car I bought cheap ebay rotors that worked wonderfully. so I just ordered some more the other day. as far as rust goes as long as there zinc or nickel coated you'll be straight. And IMO the thing about brake pads is just the material. This time I went with the organic in the rear (lowest dust) cause like you said they dont work much. And semi-metalic in the front (low noise, medium dust, medium performance, but wont eat up the rotors like the ceramic will) and as far as the warping, as long as you don't wash your wheels after driving your car (pressure washer) they should never warp. Hope this helps.

I would never say Never, That's kind of an optomistic statement considering the size of our rotors. Over time with aggressive driving (not maniac like) and the stock size rotors, they are bound to warp probably after 30,000 miles. Our cars are too heavy for the rotors to be reliable in the long run.

But if anyone else has any suggestions for me to prolong hte life of my rotors, I would LOVE it

hank, if your gonna change your rotors, dont even bother with a shop if you have yourself a car jack and a ratchet. It takes about 20 minutes to do each side on the front, unless your rotor screws are buried. Even then, get a torque screwdriver and they come right out. Save your money on the install and have a buddy help you...

I haven't seen pics of your ride but don't forget it is a great time to paint your OEM calipers.

I got my Rotora Slotted through www.streetbeatcustoms.com and they were $300 with free shipping when I got them. The pads were an additional $150 or so.

I would recommend getting them from Excelerate. It took forever form mine to get shipped. I think he's a lot more straight with you.

My brakelines cost about $140.

I helped to take them off when I parted the car out, and it's pretty easy to change the pads and rotors. You really don't need to pay anyone to do it. If you're going to change the brakelines, just see if your mechanic will do it. Mine installed the calipers, rotors, pads and brakelines for about $100. It was well worth it.
