Happened to me when I had my 96 Altima, only worse. My cable was frayed and got caught in a WOT position, I attempted to use the brakes but they were of no use. So I quickly threw the gear to neutral and pulled over to the shoulder and immediately killed the ignition. Scary

that's an odd occurrence on a CL.

My mom had a tank, an 88 crown vic, & the throttle cable had this little clip on it from preventing WOT when pressing the gas. That broke 1 day. That was fun... WOT without touching the gas pedal.

I haven't heard of this happening but I can definitely see how it could. Repositioning the throttle body on an SC moves the cables in a way that they can kink. I've seen mine settle into a position that isn't straight.

Very lucky!

My brother had a Chevelle with a pretty hot motor and the throttle was pinned wide open once on me when the motor mount broke. That was definitely an "OH SHIT" moment.
