Smitty --

I guess that's good news from the guy, but he's only gonna make 4 or 5? I think with the interest shown in this thread alone, he's gonna have to make like 20 at least.

I'm definitely in for one. Oh, what's going on with your guy who will do the O2 simm?

Keep it coming! Like I said before this looks really cool and I would love to see it become a reality fro those who want it. Any dates? Will he make more than 4 or 5?

He is waiting for my phone call... I need to hook the whole thing up and see if it throws a CEL (Check engine light), if it does then the SIM will be needed...

I am sure the exhaust guy will make them if the demand is there, that is why I sent it back, so he could make a JIG for future sales. I just want to get the damn thing done and see if everything is going to work as I calculated....

Not for nothing but installed a highflow cat with no 02 hole so i wraped the o2 in tinfoil and electrical tap and wire tied it on top of the heatshield, about 2.5 months ago and my CEL never came on.

Okay... about ready

Oh my goodness... So catch this... I decided to take the dikchead route and threaten to take our business elsewhere if the guy did not produce by the end of this week...

SO.....

He called me about an hour ago.... He will have the jig made today, but he lost the 18mm bung hole tap for the pipes.. so it will be in Tuesday of next week... he promised I will have my dump pipe by the end of next week.. 6/18/04.
I will test the dump and do step by step install instructions on how to install it and the swtich.
From there I will give him my belssing and you guys can start ordering the custom dumps for the CL/TL.

He expressed to me he will have prices drawn up within the next 2 weeks since the cost of aluminum and Stainless has gone up 77%.... I told him he better make the kit for under 200 bucks.

So in that time, I will step by step install instructions with pics for you guys...

P.S. I will work on tapping into the throttle postion sensor and making an overide switch so you guys can flick a button and have the DUMP open AUTOMATICALLY when the throttle is pushed to ANY degree that you wish.....

It won't be that easy now that I know how the actuator works. It uses a momentary switch and no internal cut off or limit switch. So if you apply power too long you will kill the motor. I'm working on a solution for this using a timed relay.

I am also going this week to have a custom cut out made using the Comptech A-Pipe. This way all emission related items are unaffected. It should be on by the end of the week with pics provided.

watch yourself on clearance.... i thought about this, but knew alot of guys did not want to hack into their headers, so that is why I went the direct replacement route.

Yea, I've gotten it laid out. I now just need an oval cut in the A-Pipe and my pipe welded up.

I don't mind hacking up the A-Pipe. Plus, it keeps my environmental conscious a little more at ease.

Yes he is ready and waiting for my phone call if we need it... i will be running the test pipe by the end of the week if all goes well..if it throws a CEL then I know the O2 Sim is needed.... but the CEL might not go off right way.. So only time will tell.. but YES, my guy is standing by to make the SIMS.

I trust that you will be posting more information as they become available for purchase; both the simulator and the test pipe/cut-out.

Will we be buying through you or will we be dealing directly with your guys?

Thanks a lot for making this come true.

Dump is all bolted up... WOW... talk about loud...

The install was very straight forward.... Ran the wiring right through the firewall (the common hole above brake pedal)... tapped into (+) and (-) in the fuse box and that was it....plugged everything to gether.

is alot louder with the straight pipe in place (Cat Removed)... but when you open up the dump the car sounds SICK..... Sounds like some someone forgot to put a muffler on a 30K car...The Check engine light came on.. (letting me know the SIM needs to be in place) It was just as planned.

The exhasut guy has the JIG all done up.. he is making a part numuber for his website..
http://www.dmhperformance.com/
and he thinks he is going to charge close to $300.00 for the part.... (P.S. he claimed 200 when we started this, see page 1) , but then continued to bitch to me about the cost of stainless going up 44%.... Oh well.... what can you do?

.. the guy took 6 months to do it, then he changes his mind on costs...
.... I have to admit his Dumps are VERY good quality...

A SIM will be needed to trick the O2 sensor....

I've heard from vendors and the guys in the machine shop, numbers increasing anywhere from 25-140% in cost..

Are you going to improve the design so the damn thing doesn't leak? Even after using high-temp Silicone etc., it starts leaking in a few days - a real pain!

no leak.... there is an exhaust gasket between the dump itself and the flange...

I have to wire the SIM in in the next couple days..... should be failry easy since all the wires are there and I have power running down there for the dump... only 3 wires to splice.

The Sim cost 50 to make and like 15-18 in parts i do believe.. I forgot... I have an extra one I will put up for sale if someone wants to buy it... i think they can be obtained online too by a company..

I will see how i like it in the next week or 2... I just might decide it is too loud and get it welded into the B-pipe after the Cat..

the exhaust smell is annoying... but man, I scared the living shit out of few people with it today....wide open exhasut is so much fun.... a 30K car sounding like a POS without a muffler on it... son of a bitch it loud...

make the comptech exhausts louder too... the car is much more noticeable coming down the road... nice rumble when the dump is closed...

I am going to be testing it more this week and will report back..

till then

I am sure I can get together with Scalbert, Modaddict, Allmotor, Jens and Types1976 and program it into the e-manage unit or throttle postion sensor...

Unless your's has limit switches or internal control to know when it is opened, this is more difficult. I assume your's has just a simple toggle switch which reverses polarity??

If so then the only way to make this automatic will be through a timed based relay. Or rather multiple one's with some basic logic incorporated. Heck, A simple PLC might be the ticket but would add a few hundred $$$ more.

Hmm... I did not get any exhaust gasket.... made my own. But the leak is not there... its in the rotating assembly when closed.
Now there is some green ooze coming out of the motor assembly... what a p.o.s.!

300... out of my price range at this moment. That sucks. Hopefully I'll get some money together soon.

Thanks for putting this together, though, Smitty.

Please give us more updates.
