Supercharger and slight detonation..

I finally weeded out all my problems with the supercharger phew..

The problem for the fuel cut was the positive cable from the alt. to the batt. was grounding out on the p/s pulley.

i soldered the ESM connections; voltage is at 2.91

boost is feeling great!
but i heard a slight detonation when i 1/2 throttled it next to the wall on the service road. Standard boost pulley... should my IMRC be disconnected?

should i get it tuned? i do have a emanage put to the side. But don't really want to spend an extra $300 for the harness and program if not necessary.

thanks guys!

dunno about u but tunning is a must, at least in s.f. because 91 octane isn't cutting it and I experience detonation every now and then, just remember to let off

I don't know off hand, but you should do a search. There are a couple here that have ruined their engines with the supercharger. There is something that needs to be disconnected...

Here is the post: Link

Shouldn't be an issue for you though since your not running the HBP. Not sure, I'm sure others will chime in

hmmm, we have 93 here in NYC. I dunno, i thought the kit should have no problems out the tbox. But not everything is perfect all the time i guess. Just going to get the program and harness from Josh.

Thanks for your input guys.

Tuning is not a must in any way shape or form.

What's your static fuel pressure?

It shouldn't need it. I did get occasional slight detonation with the standard boost pulley when it was cold ambient air.

Tuning would help out a lot in terms of preventing this from happening.

Are you getting detonation primarily at IMRC and VTEC engagement? (3800rpm and 4800rpm give or take. On a boost graph you'll actually see boost climb a little bit at these point, like a spike.

Oh the voltage reading is also 2.93V not 2.91 so that'll help out with the detonation a little.

mrsteve is right check your static fuel pressure too, thats probably the most important thing you can do then the ESM.

i was going to adjust the ESM but i got lazy...thought 2/10 of a voltage wouldnt make a difference. i heard the detonation prior to IMRC engaugement around 3800. Only when i get on it alittle. Werid. hmm...

im going to hook up my fuel pressure gauge once i get the right t-fitting
