I OWN A 2003 ACURA CL TYPES WITH AUTOMATIC AND WAS WONDERING HOW MUCH FASTER IS YOUR 0-60 WITH THE SPORTS SHIFT OR JUST STEPPING ON THE GAS WITH D5.

 

not big diffrence.. only 1 shift and supposidly SS is faster in shifting 0.1-0.2 sec if you use 1-2 it could be a bit faster...However, proper launch and controling spin/hop is more imprtant than either.

 

I don't think the purpose of the sport shift is to make launching quicker, it's more so you can hold gears on curves and hills and stuff.

 

And downshift nicely on the highway!

 

Acura claims the SS mode will shift 10% faster than auto modes.

 

Acura also claims that there is no such "tranny problem!"

 

I use ss on the highway, when I want to make sure I get in third to pass people.

 

i just dont like how you cant sift down to 1st with SS and that it shifts out of first extreamly fast.

 

In SS mode the transmission shifts to 2nd for you. At least in my moms TL-P it does. Is that different in the type S? Because you just made it seem like you wanted quicker "1st gear shifts". Dont see how that is possible when the ECU shifts for you.
