we raced from 60mph on the highway, i pulled on him the whole time up to about 120 and i had about 4 cars on him.

then we raced from a light, i turn to the guy and say "when it turns green" and before i finised my sentence i see him pointing forward and hear his tires spinning (it was wet) so i look forward, realize its green, and floor it, by this time hes got a hoodlength on me, my tires spin all to hell (again, its wet), and hes got half a carlenth on me, but as i get traction back i slowly pull on him and by about 100mph i was more than 5 cars ahead.

by the way, the guy told me that he had raced a Lancer on the freeway. i go "was it an evo?" hes like "of course" i go "damn dude, i feel bad for you"

hes like "dude, we demolished him those things are slow as hell"

i just laughed and thought to myself "wow, hes clueless"

i said "it wasnt an EVO then if you killed it, it was just a lancer" and hes like "it was an Evo man"

that was before we raced. so after we raced the first 2 times on the freeway when i had 4 cars on him, i pulled up beside him and go "im telling you man, it wasnt a lancer EVO that you raced, an evo would have my ass on a silver platter, and thats close to what i had yours on" and he was like "yea i dont think it was an evo either... damn dude you had me good"

Monte SS' are 3.8ltr and 200HP, not 230. They now have the option of the motor thats in my car, so if you line up with an 04, they might have something for ya.

So what do the 3.0s pull in the 1/4? The NA Monte SS runs high 15s I think...15.8 or so.

who the hell knows? haha. but anyway, it was an LS, not an SS. he said it had a 3.2 liter in it, i told him Chevy doesnt make a 3.2, just a 3.1, that they put in the bonneville and Malibu. he said "no its a 3.2 liter".. then i researched it after i got home, and its a 3.1 liter V6. hahahahahah and i drove a malibu for a week as a loaner car, and even i know more about the econo V6 block than he does, and thats hIS car!!!! if the SS only runs 15.8 the LS has to be in the high 16s!!! the 3.0 pull like 15.6 +/- .3 but im not really sure. all i know is i smoked him... i know the 3.1 liter in a 2002 Malibu is 200HP, his Monte Carlo was older, like maybe a 96, so its got to be less. i didnt really care either way, it made him feel better about his piece of shit to lie about it, so i let him. but he got put in his place

 

3.0 is 15.7s MAX, most don't get that.

Seriously though, the 3.1 is a dog of a motor. I would guess that back in 96 they probably had around 160-170hp MAX and would be lucky to run in the 16s, probably more like low 17s, but hey, he asked you to run. He deserved it. I believe you could get the 3.8 in the LS, but it was an option. The 3.8 in 96 was I think 195hp, so I'm sure the 3.1 is quite a bit less.
