Rewiring (+) to (-) on SS

Since automatics with a manumatic type of shift mode have electronically controlled transmissions, how come there isn't an aftermarket manufacturer that fabricates an F1-paddle system based on the same (+) (-) wiring system?

It would be an impressive mod don't you think? E.g. Astroboy
(Robb) rewired his TL and reversed the (+) to (-) signals so that pulling back on SS would mean upshifting and pushing forward would mean downshifting. So why not tap into the same input/output signals and use it for an F1 gearing system with the same type of feedback.

Or have you guys seen the same type of aftermarket solutions before?

Well it's just the electrical signal that you'd be taping into. We already have the turn signal and wiper controls so it might get VERY tight. Perhapes some buttons like the is300 would work?

It's just wiring.

Yea, just wiring. No pedals necessary, sorry PS2 junkies.

Re: is300 buttons
When our cruise control is off, we should make use of the same buttons

actually

i wish a company would make something to allow us to by-pass the 1-2 shift. its annoying when the computer up shifts for you!!!!

from a 2-1 shift i could understand why acura did not allow this happen. the cl-s jerks real hard!!! but i still would like to DS from 2nd to 1st if you are going 25 or less

yes i do know the cpu automatically DS if you are below 25 but that requires you to WOT

i want to be in 1st just a little bit longer sometimes...

I see what your saying...here's what I think

1) From a "coolness" and "looks good" factor, it's a great idea, especially since the paddles are just now becoming popular. It would be pretty much an all show thing.

2) The whole point of paddle shifting is to click off faster shifts and the CLS doesn't shift fast enough to need the paddles.

Think about it as Ferrari putting the paddles on a manual tranny...your idea is like putting paddles on an auto tranny.

And I have no clue what i'm trying to say...

What are these “PLUS” and “MINUS” things you guys are talking about?
I can’t seem to find them on my car. ......

This is ASTROBOY:

the CL already has the fastest automatic sport shifting tranny on the market....

it would be very simple to wire up the sport shift mechanism to a switch in the steering wheel....

in fact, after reading this topic, I think I will wire up my steering wheel stereo controls to my sport shift controls and have shifting ability right on my steering wheel...

I am of the opinion, that this mod would be VERY easy to do for me, since my stock steering stereo controls are unsed...

I will look into it this week, and see what I can't come up with, I'll update everyone as I get it done.

Astroboy out...

ASTROBOY speaking here:

Shawn, yeah, I auditioned Adam on the drive from Barrie to Detroit....

with an average speed over 120 MPH, over the 350 mile journey, consider him HIRED We made record time, and it was smooth sailing

the plus and minus we're referring to, is the upshift and downshift direction of our sport shift transmissions...

the only problem is see from this is shifting while turning

i dont think the radio controls are in the best postion to press up and down while taking twisted and curvy roads

if you could do maybe like an IS 300 set up that would be cool

position the lever on the 9:30 and 2:30 postions on the steering wheel...

Well, in this car you shouldn't be shifting an turning at the sametime anyway. ShawnS tried that on damp roads and nearly had a disasterous result.

yeah the cl-s dosent handle all that great if you are doing at high speeds

but im just referring to the little curves in everyday driving

most of the time you have to shift when you need to

even if its while you are taking a turn

if somehow you good bypass the 1-2, 2-1 shifter that would be the sweetest mood ever done in my opion. my brother drives a 330 ci and that is the only aspect of his car i like better, i would love to find a way to control the 1-2 and 2-1 shifting in autostick.

you know it my homey

if you want to reverse the SS in your car, you need to remove the center console, and you will find a wiring harness that is plugged in just behind the shifter....look for a yellow and an orange wire...cut them, reverse them, and re-tape them.

voila, your SS will be reversed.

I dont think you can wire the radio control on the steerling wheel to control the SS since SS needs 2 input from 2 seperated switches and wires. The radio controls operate using a single wire.

I haven't look at the schematic yet but I think the cruise control is usable. I'll keep you guys posted.

I am home now, not sure what CLSleeper is going on about, but our Acura's tranny shifts faster than any car less than 100k with an auto.
