THANKYOU!

Rajca is planning on running a ginormous turbo.

Its possible that it may be too big for the motor though, so it may have a hard time staying in boost.

I remember what CL hes talking about though, the one in the 400s. It was a silver 03 IIRC, a guy that worked for Greddy at the time built it (hes a member here).

Actually, I have the magazine article:

^^thanks for the link, I hadn't seen that before.

Regarding the turbo application, c'mon people. It's obvious that we're all assuming the chosen turbo is going to be optimal efficiency for the chosen application. There's a reason there are turbo efficiency maps for different turbo specs for different applications...

Rajca, also keep in mind that these numbers are 6psi @ 10.5:1 compression. If you plan on lowering compression, you'll have to boost a ton more to reach similar numbers.

one way or another, im gonna hit my goal. weather its more boost or more spray.
try looking into some mdx cams, i know they are different but not quite sure if in a good or bad way

try some nitro-methane fuel (like they use in top-fuel dragsters), that will produce some extra power, while draining your pockets

yeah depends on the flow rate of the turbo itself, and also how hot it actually makes the air when it boosts it to a certian level

also it is a whole lot easier to run higher boost with high compression, when you are not limited by pump gas

lower compression with higher boost will yield more power than high compression with lower boost.

then you lose your low end torque (not really a concern for rajca though being a track car),
but i was just saying it is alot easier to run whatever compression with whatever boost you want when you are not limited to pump gas

High comp plus boost = detonation issues

The loss of low end torque is true when you have a low comp NA motor, but boosted you'll make more power anyway, and safely.

better gas can fix the detonation issues, there is actually a gas station only like a couple of miles from me that sells 100 octane street legal gas, but good luck filling up any other place within 100 miles or so (or trying to go on a road trip)

but the turbo will spool up faster with a higher CR ratio, so you have a broader/wider powerband, which is really nice and kinda neccesary for a street car (for driveability) (should also be better MPG too)
and yeah a low cr will let you make more power, but that power will geaneally be peakier (upper RPM's so not as usable on the street), but for rajca and it being a track car, it does not really matter, cause he will proably be staying in the upper powerband anyways

Yea, but the grade of gas varies too much to run high comp on a turbo motor safely, even if it is built. Pump gas at one station can be a certain octane one week, but the next week could be slightly different at the same place.

If you want the turbo to spool quicker, get a smaller turbo. Hell, build a hybrid snail (smaller hot side, larger cold side). Dont sacrifice reliability and depend heavily on pump gas. Its not worth the possible outcome.

i actually want some lag. seen youtube videos on my turbo on bmw and subies, and what not. turbo spools around 3.5-4k and u can hear and feel the pull at that rpm. now add some spray and its a diff story

never heard that term before , but yeah you mean like a t3/t4 turbo (just as an example)

or hell even a variable geometry turbo (if we could even control the F***er like a factory car does, not saying the aftermarket could't just be quite a bit of work to get it to work right)(and have enough options in the actually size of it)

its not like these cars have much to begin with.

plus the loss of power isnt very noticable wth these cars after a snail is installed. even part boost will more than make up for it

keeping the tread alive. been working my ass of at my work. just to get the build going and paying off my school loan.

but anyway. but a few more parts made by p2r and got the shifter bushing. now im gonna make some custom ss clutch lines at work. im gonna get the ones with the black rubber on the outside bc im trying to make it as sleeper and possible (yes i know, ppl will see the turbo). but still. want little to no bling under the hood.

Dont go crazy with the clutch lines. The hardlines are better. Just replace the rubber lines on it.

i have seen a ss clutch line before somewhere, so you can just buy one, but yeah be easier just to make it yourself, and not have to pay for it ethier

and for civic, i think he might just be replacing the rubber line, and leaving the rest of the hard line intact

Ok.

It honestly doesnt matter if you use silver or black, you cant even see the line when you pop the hood.

in Europe we have 98 octane gas on every station and shell has V-power that has 102 or 103 octane

Dude, it was a joke. A joke not meant towards you. It was directed at those on the Jersey Shore.

And look around this country, every one that isnt living on an Indian Reservation is an immigrant in some way or another.
