Question about Replacement trannies

OK, all those out there that have had their trannies replaced......A few questions....

1. How are the new trannies doing in your cars....any problems??

2. Did Acura mention that the new trannies have the problem fixed or is it the exact same tranny??

3. Has anyone had more than one tranny on the same car go out??

Just wondering what to expect when I get my car back rom the dealership........

a couple have reported new (rebuilt) tranny failing, and to the best of my knowledge Acura has never advised anyone of what the problem is.

What about Nissan Maxima and Toyota Camry 2001 cars, do they get the same number of broken trannies as we get on Acura???

I’d sure like to know that too
Be sure to ask for the approximate date that the new/replacement tranny was installed…

2. Did Acura mention that the new trannies have the problem fixed or is it the exact same tranny??
The rumors are flying on this one. There is no "official" word on this. You "might" (from the rumor mill) get someone's previous box, with some upgraded bearings. (You would NOT be able to see them from the outside...) IT IS NOT A DIFFERENT TRANNY from a “new case” perspective…

3. Has anyone had more than one tranny on the same car go out??
You bet 'cha! The question is -- did the box have the "mystery" bearings installed (if story/rumor is true). And will they help anyway????

Just wondering what to expect when I get my car back rom the dealership........
BEST CASE: The rest of the " transmission’s systems", e.g. the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is working perfectly, the solenoids are not full of junk and are working properly, and all of the pressure transducers that let the electronics know what is going on are working perfectly (No one ever said that every dealer would check all of the stuff *or* even knew how to do this without replacing everything related to the transmission.)

Simple answer -- if you have the best "surgeons" in town and they are on happy pills, you might be ok (the FDA [Fried-transmission Death Association] has not given a final ruling on these matters.)

RESULT: you live happily ever after with a transmission that lasts and feels like new!

WORST CASE: You get a transmission back, it was a Monday when your box got rebuilt *and* the Honda guys were having a case of the "Mun-days". You're service people put your old clogged solenoids (possibly filled with magnetically attracted particles) back in, your PCM was acting funny anyway, and they have a problem figuring out where and how to connect up all of the pieces (like the shift cable, etc). You drive the car out the door, and do an "Oh, shit...." (The bad install part happened and some people are on transmission #2)

Simple Answer: People are human; they rebuild and put your stuff back. And how many people treat your stuff, like their stuff???

RESULT: You'll be back here telling us your woes *and* asking for follow-on advise.
