Put on UR Crank Pulley Today.....

Very decent gains, about like a CAI but the engine spins better from starting and thru every gear. Gear changes are instant and VTEC comes on like NOW rather than BAWAAAA like before. It feels like the gains are what UR says they are, about eight or ten at the wheels. I didn't do the other pulleys as it would have been alot more money and they are mostly for looks. The crank pulley was about $240 shipped or close to it. To put it on I had to remove the front right side wheel, remove the Alt. belt and P/S belt (after removing the motor mount) and then voila the pulley bolt would not let go! Even with the air compressor at 120 lbs and a high power gun ( I/R 2131) it wouldn't budge so I had to hit it with a torch for 20 seconds and it came right off. The two new belts need to be slightly shorter as the pulley is slightly smaller. It weighed 2 lbs, the stock one 8.5 on the trusty bathroom scale.
I have a 00' TL-P with I/H/E, I guess now it's I/H/E/P.

Very cool.Did u dyno her yet? do it and tell us.
Before putting on the Crank pully did u find out about possible side effects of it? can it mess up somethin in the car?
Give me more details if u can.
Congrats

For now I'll have to rely on the butt dyno, but there's no question that it spins like it's lighter and rev's way faster.
I called UR and had a long talk with the tech guy first. He said our cranks are balanced internally and that Honda uses just crank pulleys on our engines, not harmonic balancers. Why it is so heavy stock I just don't know. For the pulley part number and belt part numbers just go to their web page. He also said that if it would hurt an engine they wouldn't sell it. He said while other brands produce gains by underdriving, they limit that part to 15% and the rest is from weight savings. I can tell you the engine idles exactly the same as before and revs up totally smooth, no added vibration at all, zero. So I too hope that it will be a good mod that will last a long time.

I'm getting the entire set next week... $290 for the full set. The clutch should also be in probably the week after. I think the combo (especially the flywheel) will give 20-30whp gain on the dyno. The UR pulleys alone give 13whp dyno-proven... and that's like a 6-7lb reduction in mass right on crank. The flywheel/clutch is like 12-15lb reduction, so I am expecting very good gains If these bolt-ons can get me to 275whp... 300whp won't be too difficult.

I have one for my Alti, I can't say enough about this mod. I got the same results: noticeable increase in how fast it revs. For the Alti, it was a great bang-for-the-buck mod (I got in on a $115 group buy).

I can believe the 6-7 lb weight reduction from stock; the stock pulley is heavy.

240 for a pulley that gives upto 10 hp is no different than paying 200-250 for a CAI that gives about the same power. I'm thinking about getting the UR crank pulley eventually as well but I want to see if there are any long term side effects.

i understand that but i thought 240 would also include the powersteering and alternator pulley as well

so how much is for the full set??

when you removed the pulley didnt you have to hold it in any way, to prevent it from spinning?
what did you torque it to?

I thought that the pulleys were not go for our engine due to not having a harmonic balancer. I heard that it can damage the internal parts from the engine down the road. 40to 50K miles range. Is it worth it?

Mr TL - I had the 50mm holding tool that I got from a tool guy but didn't end up needing it as the torch allowed just the use of my 1/2" impact gun to spin it off. That tool was $42!!! Torque is 181 ft lbs, or 245 newton meters when going back on. I just used a 1/2" drive SK torque wrench. If anyone needs it just PM me.

Where did you purchase the pullies from? Seems to be a good price.

I've had the pullies installed since 9/02 and absolutely no side effects.

Has anyone tried combining the AEM pullies with the UR crank pulley? I just bought the AEM's, but wouldn't mind adding the UR at the crank. Any thoughts (allmotor2000)?

Get UR, Aem does practically nothing, they are more of a cosmetic mod.

It's too late, I already have the AEM's. I would also add the UR crank pulley if I was able to.

Hey Allmotor, I thought that you are not supposed to put a lightweight flywheel and a lighter crank pulley together on the same engine; that it would break some shit. I have read that you can only have one or the other, but not both. Explain please.

I wasn't aware of such a 'rule'. If it blows.. it blows, lesson learned right?
