wow I cant believe I havent been keeping up with this thread. good work guys. I commend you. If I still had my TLS Id be right behind you. With my new baby it looks like the IM is the same as the 09 TL one which is a plus. Im going to have to get the egr breather adapter from Paul as soon as I get back from my cruise. Maybe bored TB too

Sean said the 3.7 in the SH-AWD is different than the 3.5.

That's what made it so hard to get because it is in very few cars.

You may be able to reap gains with this, and be able to connect the butterfly more easily, that is my next task, getting that working.

They look very familiar. Even the parts diagram look identical.

Great work E30. This mod is going to go a long way. Not only for the HP gains but it looks great to. Keep up the good work.

if infact they are different than yes the 3.7L one will be going on, along with a spacer to add volume to the intake

I think the 09 TL 3.5 and 3.7 Intake Manifolds are identical...

"2-PIECE DUAL-STAGE INTAKE MANIFOLD

Both TL models feature a dual-stage intake manifold made from lightweight magnesium. The manifold works together with VTEC® to improve low-speed torque with no sacrifice in high-rpm power. Divided into two banks feeding three cylinders per bank, the manifold has two Powertrain Control Module-controlled butterfly valves located between each bank. These valves are closed at low engine speed, which reduces the operating volume of the plenum and increases the effective length of the inlet passages. The result is maximum resonance effect and amplification of pressure waves within each half of the manifold at lower engine speeds, significantly increasing cylinder filling and thus low rpm torque. The open ends of the intake runners are also flared into a "trumpet" shape, as on racing engines, to further improve airflow.

At higher engine speeds (3,950 rpm with the 3.5-liter, and 4,000 rpm with the 3.7-liter) the butterfly valves open, connecting the two halves of the manifold, increasing its effective volume and increasing the mass of air rushing down each intake passage. The inertia of this increased air mass forces more charge into each cylinder for better cylinder filling, increasing torque at high rpm. The manifold's two modes further complement the changes in low and high speed running made possible by the VTEC® system. Both the 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter intake manifolds are fitted with a specially-cast top plate featuring a machined Acura logo."

They do look identical.

I just got back from my first real drive and the difference is HUGE
It is faster from GO & revs faster, and seems to pull harder throughout the range. I assume it will get better as the computer adapts.
Well worth the cost & work

And judging from the pictures, you haven't hooked up the IMRC actuator yet? The high end is suffering.

If they are the same there should be more than 4 in the country right now... good news for the rest of us!

I have not.

I need the pinout of the 09 so I can properly connect it. I also need to source a connector or some means of connecting it that is safe.

I have not gone over 60 since this is done and it works just fine to that point.

The butterflies are open currently.

Be real real nice if we could get some cams done to take advantage of the new intake & exhaust manifolds.!!!

Well I ordered the 08 Accord mani with the Acura cover. So we will see really what the differences are. If it fits, then we have a solution.

I can verify if the part numbers are different between the 3.7 and the 3.5. I can tell you that they do look identical.

I know Ive said this before, but Ill be posting dyno graphs shortly, and Ill do my best to source the pin outs for the IAB. Im still waiting for my manifold

I was looking into the IAB and unless the 09 has redundant pins we are in trouble, it has 5 we have 2.

I posted a thread in 4th gen TL mods & performance asking for the diagram. I am not buying an 09 electrical manual for this.

Our IAB doesnt work in conjunction with VTEC, so those extra wires could be for that. We just need to find out what wires trigger it and connect to those. Its possible that Honda uses the same wire colors between the CL and the new TL, so if anyone on the 4g side can give us that info, we should be good to go.

Also, I thought we had 3 wires?

Too bad we can't raise the RPM cut off to really take advantage of something like that.

You could always get the valve guides machined down a bit to accommodate some extra lift. If I was going to do that I'd go ahead and have the heads completely worked over also.

But that's a whole another ball game.
Just rambling!

Agreed. Bisimoto has been bothered many times about the J-Series support. When one of the guys over on the other forum met him in person he asked if Bisi was going to come out with anything for us and he said yes.

Highly possible on the cams and other components.

Now that the civic, integra, etc; guys are swapping the J's in their cars...we can only hope for something like a stock ECU reflash or something of that sort.

For now I'll just stick to bolt-ons such as these.

Ive been trying to light a fire under Hondatas ass for awhile now, but they are stubborn. It would be excellent to get a program similar to K-pro or S300 so we can control every parameter of the motor properly.

Someday it may happen. For now, Im off to bump the radius arm bushing thread

So how are the torque gains compared to the P2R plenums? I know the HP gains are better, but I remember the plenums making incredible torque numbers. Is this even higher than that??

Everything is much improved, feels like alot more torque.

I bet you will get to the dyno long before me. I DO have Dynolicious on my iPhone though, I might do a run on that.

lol

Can someone comment on the electrical question please?

I just checked my service manual for the pinout for the IAB, and I cannot seem to find exactly what we are looking for. Let me PM anthracite, I think he has a scanner and the electrical manual.

I hooked it up, I left the butterfly open when I installed it do I need to close it? I'd think so since it is an on/off device.
