Thanks for the pics………FINALLY.
The only concern I can see right away from them is that the flanges are MUCH thicker for some reason.
I hope the stock studs are long enough to allow you to get the locknuts on.
And I think the reason they give you gaskets is because it doesn’t look like the face of the manifolds are machined.
That saves a quite a few bucks and helps explain some of the price difference.

Damn, nice... mine should be here this Monday!.... I am happy I ordered the OBX headers and saved $500.
Comptech can eat its crap... No one with his sound mind can justify the $500 surchage for the Comptech Headers.
Rag, (FLAME Suit is on):
This is THE PROOF that Comptech were ripping off every one who bought their headers. If OBX can make these headers and their retailers are selling those for $499 shipped and making a PROFIT. I can say either Comptech is BIGGEST Inefficient makers AND/OR the most BSer in the industry... Yeah they had to jack up the price of headers from $1099 to $1299 because of the rise of cost of energy? where is ENRON? does Comptech has anything to do with collapse of ENRON?
Assuming Comptech is selling their headers for their retailers for $850, I think they were making an easy $500-$600 per unit. Or %200+ markup....
Again, I am glad I waited for a Comptech Knock off for 50% discounted price. I hopped for the Prototype Headers but the wait was too long!

the obx look aight, but they are no comptech that's for sure. look at the welds and the flanges. the welds on comptech headers are perfect and uniform.
comptechs are expensive but just like anything else you get what you pay for.
p.s. - where are the obx made?

You can't compare CT and OBX. Comptech R and D'd this header design and got it C.A.R.B. exempt. That takes time and money. It is much easier and cheaper to copy (rip off) the design after it is known to work. An analogy is generic drugs. They are much cheaper than the original.

Yep, that was my first impression also! These things are damn light and look tight as hell! If you want more pics of the things before installation let me know and Ill snap a few of whatever area you want. Install should be very soon!
You gotta have faith my good man! I noticed the same thing about the flanges. Did anyone want to post a pic of the comptechs for reference? Also, I feel better with having a nice gasket in between a thick flange and my exaust ports because of the vibration issue but thats just me. And that does not make up for the $500 price diff and you know it :P
Mmmmmmmh mmmmm You can imagine how I feel .... talk about WORTH THE WAIT so far. And so far I agree with the comptech bashing statements and bless these headers!
Yes the do look good but dont make any decisions yet until the dyno cause I wanna prove this to everyone! OBX is made near the outer banks just like it says.
again, dont make any decisions yet until I PROVE that these suckers crank out more power than the coptechs.
Sorry bud if it seemed like I was awoiding this question. Let me talk to Bucky @ OBX and Ill let you know, ok?
Seriously, if you want more pics just let me know just let me know what you want me to take them of and Ill hook it up ASAP. Dyno is coming very soon as my car just got back from its scheduled maintinence.
DO NOT ORDER YET I mean you can if you like but I really think you should wait for the DYNO!!!!
Preliminary graphs show about 3 more hp than CT downlow and thats just where I want it!
If you guys got any more questions let me know!

The Comptech’s are ground smooth in there and I’m wondering if these are.
That’s another step that may have been left out to save money.

Shop machining cost is about 80-100 dollars an hour and you need to include tooling setup time in that too.

Measure the thickness on the manifold flanges and see if you can get a photo looking up INSIDE the manifold where the three pipes are welded together.

I know the machining won’t make up the ENTIRE 500-dollar difference, but I would guess they saved 150 to 175 or more by avoiding that process.

Haha you must have been reading my mind. I was thinking about taking my dremel tool and seeing if I can smooth out those joints. The welding looks like it should hold well enough so I just might do that. Good call

From what I have heard on the First Gen page. Some people said they will fit with no problem, but ohters say it would not. That's why I want to find out, cause these OBX are for a GREAT price...

Well, what many people are probably going to do is have the dealer install them or a performance shop in the area. If you choose to do it yourself like me, you can follow my detailed installation article which I will be doing soon!
