Need suggestion on springs.

I have a stock CL-S that is in need of some mods. I would like to start with changing out the stock springs for some aftermarket springs. Can someone tell me what the best springs are regardless of price? I want a clean / agressive look with a decent ride. I do not want the car to appear too low or the ride to be too harsh. After this mod I plan to add 18 inch wheels. Are there any negatives I should consider? What are the positives?

but the guy also said that he didn't want the ride to look too low... i think H&R Sports a little too low for most people's tastes... but yet perfect for me

I'd recommand Comptech... I just love them so much... feel and handling are awesome...

but depending upon your taste though, Comptech springs drop the front a bit more than rear, so the butt is a bit taller that front after modification... some people don't like that.

So take in factor of look, feel and handling...

Just cut 2 1/2 coils off your front and back springs. You'll end up with a moderate 3.5" drop front, maybe 4" in the rear.

Those drops sound anything but moderate to me, more like severe.

This is my car with the H&R Sports....

I originally didn't want to go to low either, but after weeks of swaying back and forth, I decided on the H&R's because the CL-S looks so sweet with the wheel wells all filled in.

I'd like to know how the ride quality is on the H&R Sports springs...is it really bumpy? How does it compare to the Comptech Springs and the stock springs? I do like the even drop that the H&R gives.

I used to roll around on a 3 1/2 drop all day long...and it wasn't the least bit bumpy. I took Mr. Tinman for a drive too...even he confessed that my ride was nice.

Yes, I was very impressed with the way the car looked and rode. I drove it and the ride quality was perfectly fine; no bounciness at all. I was really surprised considering how friggen low it was. It looked awesome.

My car didn't even look lowered when parked next to Aaron's (even though it's got H&R OE springs). Here's a very bad picture from when his car had cut springs comparing the two:

Based on what I have read I am going to go with Comptech springs. Do I need to have these installed at the dealer to keep my factory warranty? What is the typical cost for installation? I figure the springs can be bought for $269. Will I need an alignment when this is done?

Good choice and as it was said before u can't go wrong with the CT's. When I get my car back, I'm putting the CT's on. I liek the CT's cause the car looks so much liek SHIET when it's at SUV-height and the frotn wheels always look higher than the back. Springs from Neuspeed, H&R and Eibach all don't seem to correct that and the front tires are still higher in my opinion.

U mean too bad ur car doens't look raked. I want that look. PLus I can't be driving on a car with too much of a drop. Bobowah's Tl on H&R Sports wouldn't make it into my driveway (thankyou SF) but Cee el es' CT's on his CL would.

Cha-ching!

Any comments on where the best place is to have the CT springs installed? Do I need to use the dealer for the warranty? Next is the 18" wheels so I can get rid of the stock "curb feeler" alloys.

That's the reason why I went with Comptechs instead of the Eibach Pro-Kit. The Pro-Kit seems to make the car's ass sag, at least it seems that way in pics.

You don't need to use the dealer for the warranty, but it would be the best place to get it done. That is, if you can find a dealer in your area to do it for a reasonable price since some dealers don't even install aftermarket parts. If the dealer is going to charge you some ridiculous price, just get them installed at a reputable shop and have your car aligned after the installation.

Shop arround for a good place, ask people where they got their work done. Getting it done by a dealer is not required, and is 'almost' always overpriced. don't forget to get an alignment..
