Need help in choosing a car

Hey guys I know I'm a noob but have been a long time browser. I need a car bad and really want a cl-s. My father owns repair shops and a used car lot, so I've been around cars my whole life and know a lot. On our lot I have a 99 BMW 323i and a 99 Lexus G300 availible to me for a really good price. We can find any Cl-S's anywhere in the auction or other lots. In your opinion should I take one of these cars or white for a type S to come around. Also is the CL-S really alot faster stock then these cars? Thanks for the help I really appreciate it.

Welcome to the Forum!

Def. the CL-S is faster than either of the cars you mentioned. Plus the Bimmer will cost a lot more to keep running. The used CLs are a great value, IMHO

Yea I was talkin to my tranny guy and he said go for the 6 spd because the auto is shit. The problem is they are rare and out of my price range. I cant really spend more than 14-15.

i think you are gonna get a biased anser in a cl-s forum. but even with the current choices, i'm not a huge fan of the e36 (unless it's an M3), and that model GS is average.

CL>GS300>E36

yes rare but you can find a 6 speed for that price your just going to have to settle for higher mileage, if your willing to buy the car with 60K+ miles then go for it!

get what you can afford and makes you happy. I'm sure if you go on a Bimmer or Lexus forum they will be baised towards what they already own. Best of luck with the hunt.

the cl is totally different than both cars you mentioned.. different class different everything.. it would narrow your search down and relieve some stress if you start out thinking what do i want first? coupe? 4dr? gas? reliability? for the value the cl would be nice..

I don't think you can really compare the 3 different cars. I've had experience with both the GS and 3series. (that should be a E46 in 99 if it's a sedan)

personally at the same price, i would go with a GS first. most luxurious and reliable. however, realize that had better be your desire (comfort and reliability) because it's big and floaty if you dont' do some suspension work to it. you'll feel a little older steppin out of one i think.

the 3series is probably the sportiest of the 3 cause of its dimensions and suspension out the box. however, it'll feel really slow compared to the other 2 cars in a straight line and off the line. i wouldn't bother with it if it's an auto either...it's too slow and has its share of failure(the forums, aren't as flooded with tranny problems like the CL/TL but they have their own problems like subframe/ bushing problems...all overhyped i think, but again you are dealing with fanatics)

the CL (which i am currently shoppin for) is a boat with a great interior and peppy engine...aside from the tranny issue, there doesn't seem to be too many issues. and since most seem to say acura will do the right thing and take care of it under 100k, i might take the plunge.

so pretty much, the only selling point for the CL (for me at least) is that it's a coupe, i haven't had one before, and it's cheaper out the door...

Welcome. The CL is a solid car. Even with the tranny issue since it's covered til 100K.

Here's what you can do....buy mine.
