NE1 Else getting rust?

I have a weird scratch on my hood and now rust has started forming. I know that it isn't covered under warranty, which sucks. Damn NJ for using so much salt on the roads. I guess I will fix it by using superfine sandpaper and touchup paint. Does that sound about right?

Don’t we have a limited warranty on rust?

Just as easy to fix yourself anyway. I look at the dealers with a jaundice eye when it comes to car washing / drying / and especially paint chip repair!!

When my hood had a hole in it from a flying piece of debris, rust started within a day or two.

I also have a little rust trying to grow along the chrome trim above the side windows?? This doesn't make me very happy!!

Unprotected metal + SALT = Rust
WOW… We have a couple of Metallurgical Engineers here don’t we ???

If you get a chip or scratch you have to protect it with touchup paint or at the least a coat of WAX or you’re gonna have rust in a matter of days.

Warranty

I do believe the warranty is if you have a body panel rust through out.. not just surface rust.

I do remember a service bulletin on the mufflers rusting.. and they will sand them down and repaint them with heat paint for free...LOL....

Sorry man, your on your own...

Stay away from the high grit sand paper.. your asking for trouble.. Clay it.. use some body prep solvent to take the oils/dirt out and then apply some touch up paint...

I agree with the above advise-- skip the sandpaper.

as far as the mufflers concern... wish I'd have known Already painted that y-pipe with black heat paint twice, its holding on now
