Necessary to rust proof 2016 RDX?

I have a new 2016 RDX in Canada. Is it recommended to rust proof, and what is the best way to rust proof it?

I live in snow country in CabaDUH and never rust proof the cars .. never had an issue .. More worry about rock chips rusting and the areas where the wheels throw up rocks. Only cars I see up here with rust are the ones that are not cared for ... Wash as often as you can ( no brush ) and let the water flood down the drain channels.

Most modern vehicles sold in the rust prone areas come with some sort of rust proofing done to it. Look in your wheel wells, you see some thick rubberized materials along the joint lines and what not. Dealers offer additional services, because money!

The question is: how long do you plan on keeping the car?

Take care of your car, clean it, wax it, touch up any bare metal spots, get the road salt off as much/often as you can thru winter.

Since its a new car I would make the investment in keeping it forever new. The best way to do that is go get a full clear wrap for the car. If you decide to do that, make sure the car is thoroughly cleaned. Secondly, you'd want to rust proof the under body of your car as this is where most of the wear and tear will take place. If you can keep the under body of your car rust free, your car will last forever. The way to do this is to get your car lifted up a couple of feet and do a thorough cleaning of the metals. Since your car is new, it should be a piece of cake, then I would suggest buying some type of rust/salt/heat resistant spray.

Its better to do all of this when the car is new. This way, whenever you decide to sell the car, even 10 years down the road, you peel off the clear bra, it will look new like the first day you bought it and your investment pays off. How new a car looks determines its resell price.
