My Gas sucks big time...

Ok guys....i bought this 2001 CL-S about 1 month ago but my gas sucks. This is the miles I get from a complete filled tank to when the gas light comes out:
209 miles

That is really bad compared to others in this board. I already tried a gas treament/cleaner made by chevron...now Im thinking to changing my air filter to K&N or getting the AEM CAI. I always use 93 gas (Exxon) and do not floor the car. I drive 75% city 25% highway.

Can someone tell me if they had this situation happen to them and tell me the resolution to this problem. What can I do to rectify this problem. Thanks

check the air filter
Check FPR
Check O2 sensors...

is your e brake on all the time?
are you towing a small horse?

is there a banana in your tailpipe?

BTW - serious about the first three....

What is the mileage you are getting? The light may be turning on way early.

FPR and O2 sensors you need a scanner to read....I believe.

You can try taking it to ACURA to check the codes.

The O2 sensors are before and after the Cat in the exhaust....I don't know where the FPR is located....someone with a Helms manual should be able to show you.

I would suggest that too. With the colder weather, it's not uncommon to drop 3-5 psi and the tires would cause a lot of drag.

BTW - how many miles are on your car? Also, you may want to try 0w-20 Mobil 1 on your next oil change - especially if you're 75% city and the cold weather.

Are you doing a lot of cold starts during that 200 miles also? Cold starts suck a lot of gas.

I suggest you also start to quantify your MPG. Take miles driven and divide by number of gallons to fill up and report back. Could also be a bad gas gauge if you're filling up and it's only taking 10 gallons.

I thought the same thing about my CLS, i was getting bad gas mileage. When i used to fill the car up from when the gas light was coming i was only putting in about 10-13gals until the handle on the fuel pump releases.

What i did last weekend when it happened, i manualy pumped gas in until i had 16.5gals + what ever was left in the tank before filling up.

450 miles later i was still on the same tank of gas. 80% highway 20% local

man F900 you are getting horrible mileage..

What you should do is get an K & N air filter and get a Fuel Injection done at a car place. This should increase your mileage a bit.

I drive mostly highway I'd say around 85% of the time and I can get up to 420 miles on a filled up tank before the gas light comes on and i don't have any mods on my car.. so before u get any mods you might wanna just get the car serviced for any problems.

so what is the tire pressure suppose to be when its warm or hot weather??

also when filling up the tires with more air when is it usually the best time to check the pressure because i've heard that you don't get accurate readings if you do it during certain times of the day or temperature, or after driving a while. like the pressure increases at hot weather so u don't get right readings...is that right?
