My day at the dealer

Dropped off the CL at the dealer yesterday for the 45k service and to get some things checked out before the warranty expires. I know, I know, 45k service is a waste of money ($300) and I could do half the stuff myself. Anyways, here's what they found (with the prices they wanted to fix them):

Bad IAC valve (replaced under warranty)
Front brakes 65-70% worn ($305)
Rear brakes 95% worn ($315)
All four tires (stock Michelins) with 4/32 tread left ($925)
One tire with two nails in it, including one in the sidewall (unrepairable)

Of course I'm not paying those prices! I ordered a set of Yokohama Avid V4S tires off tirerack.com. Getting those put on ASAP, since rolling on the donut sucks a big one. Saving about $300 there. Gonna get the brakes checked out at the shop and see how bad they really are. Probably just replace the pads with the OEM Akebons. Once the front ones go I'll look into some Rotora slotted rotors and either the Akebons, NAPA Ceramix, or deal with the brake dust and get the Axxis Ultimates.

Man the dealer loves to rip you a new one $$ wise!

While I expected some of these things, I didn't expect the rear brakes! Why the hell are they worn down so bad? The front brakes do most of the work on this car. It's not like I drove 80mph with the ebrake on (saw this in another post)! Could this be related to the fact that the punctured tire was in the rear?

When I did mine, I had to do brakes all around, and oil change. I dit at my mechanic and it was about $300.

I only take my CL to the dealer for warrenty work.

Yeah I found a reputable shop near where I live. $130 for each set of brakes (includes pads + labor; no resurfacing of rotor), and $25 per tire install + $2.50 per tire disposal.
