Ive started to notice that at idle that the engine is not running as smoothly as it was a few thousand miles ago. Once i get the revs up past 2-2.5K seems to go away. Im not sure if this is actually knocking, but it sounds like knocking. I only have headers and AEM intake. I tried running a bottle of fuel system cleaner through it to try and clean any contaminents i may have gotten, no help.

Any Suggestions? Should i take it in? If i do i would have to put the stock air box back on.

 

***I have noticed this slight knock also ***It happens from being stopped or just slowly rolling, then moderate acceleration. Notice it olny during warm weather also.

 

are you guys sure I believe this car has knock sensors. I would use synthetic oil slighty thicker like 5w30 instead of the 5w20 they want you to use. Mobil 1 is my preffered choice cause I by the case for like $22 at Costco and take it to the dealer for the oil change. That way they will surely know that its knocking and that you take car of the car.

Its a knocking sound in the engine.

 

Is it subtle. I noticed on a couple CL-S 6MT that at idle, it is a little bit rough, but barely noticeable. But if you look for it, you will feel it when compared to the automatic. My car has always been like that and I think it's normal. Not sure how loud the knocking is that you are saying...I'm sort of guessing it might be what I was experiencing and it doesn't seem to be a problem (dealer looked at it too and said it looks fine).

That would most likely not be engine knock, pre-ignition, detonation, etc. The previous mentioned conditions normally occur under heavy load.

Is it a knock or does it sound like nails in a tin can?? What throttle angle does it begin and end at??

 

It does have a knock sensor but I am beginning to think the units Honda uses are a bit deaf.

 

ok its called a "valve tick" all honda's have it, it has something to do with the Vtec and the valves, lobes and cams and all this other shit, but they all knock. Mine is pretty fuckin loud too so dont worry about it. its not harmful

I havent had any knocking, but today my car severely hesitated on me, like it had a "cough" when i floored it....i know if i take it in, they are gonna blame it on the NOS, but I havent sprayed in over a month, who knows, hopefully it will go away.....
