Morning Wood
Now that I have your attention, I want to get rid of the wood trim in my CL. I know the only way to do it is to paint it, but I'm not sure of the steps involved in painting it. Primer and paint? I really need some help before I make an expensive mistake. Please help a fellow CL brother out so that he doesn't feel like he's driving a car meant for a 50 year old lady. (Come to think of it, I bought the car used from a middle aged woman). Thanks
PS I searched and some cool stuff, especially that PDG interior.

lol. its not that bad dude. But im pretty sure all you have to do is primer and paint it... go ahead and ask jafar aka starboyny1 (i think thats his s/n.) he's in the middle of re-doing his entire interior..

ahah whoops... this is a second gen CL... in that case, I think you can actually buy carbon fiber trim or aluminum trim online... Im not too sure about that though.
sorry!

Nope, its the tan/burlwood. I just finished painting the the console pieces. It looks pretty good. I made a few mistakes so it has 4-5 coats of paint. Think that's a problem?

No more burlwood! (On the center console at least). The paint i used is a little more metallicy than i was hoping, but it looks good. I'll take pics tomorrow. Then, once spring break comes around, I'll take care of the doors/back.

Good luck removing the door panel pieces. They are held on by plastic rivets. You have to either melt or cut off the ends of them to get the door panel pieces off. Then you have to used sheet metal screws to hold them on.
I did it.

Painting them is easy just sand, primer, paint, and clear. But like NSXNext said removing them from the doors and the back panels will be a pain. Heres a pic of mine...

yeah, Taking off the door pieces is gonna be harder than I thought. Some guy at a shop said he would take off the pieces and put them back on for $70. I think I'll let him do it because I'm afraid I'll mess it up and have to buy a new door panel ( which Acura told me is around $500!)
BEFORE I do all this, i wanted some of ya'lls opinions about the color. I got the Tan interior, You think metalic silver/grey will match? I already did center pieces going throught the center console silver just to see how It looks. I cant decide whter to do them all silver, or just black? Any help would be appreciated.
PS- I have no Digital camera so I can't show ya'll pics. But like I said, Tan interior with a metalic grey/silver trim. I think Ive seen it on some BMWs and Benzes. Thanks for the advice.

I've been working on this forever now... Too many projects at once so nothing is complete yet, including this. Actually I have painted them twice now but now they are sitting in a box after being recently sandblasted. BTW: Sandblasting made for a really nice paintable surface, very smooth. Here's what they looked like after the first time. I didn't like the color so they came off. (these are spares) I've actually got the right color to do them in now but I have no time to do it yet.
